Cenk on Obama and campaign finance reform: ‘It wasn’t on his priority list’

Cenk invites Think Progress editor Ian Millhiser and Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, to determine what Obama’s decision to back unlimited donations to a Democratic PAC means for getting big money out of campaigning. Cenk agrees with Millhiser: it’s important to win re-election, but overall it doesn’t inspire him to believe Obama really will disarm super PAC influence. However, he also believes Edgar hits the nail on the head by pointing out that Obama could have taken steps to limit PAC influence two years ago. Cenk says, “He ran his whole campaign on ‘Change! I’m going to change the way Washington works,’ and then introduced zero pieces of legislation to make that happen.”
