Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., is leaving office to run the Heritage Foundation, an infamous Republican think tank. But Cenk Uygur suggests that DeMint’s decision is more about money than about wanting to advocate for GOP-supported policies. Cenk says that might be a reason someone gives at the end of a term, but not when leaving four years early: “He went for the money, Lebowski!” As president at Heritage, DeMint could earn more than 16 times what he earns as a U.S. senator. Cenk says, “This is how it works. The rich people funnel money to the Heritage Foundation, and then they funnel it to their sellouts.”
