Cenk Uygur talks with “The War Room” host Michael Shure and Politico reporter Kevin Robillard about the controversy surrounding the leaked recording of a strategy session for Sen. Mitch McConnnell, R-Ky. In the recording, McConnell and his advisers are brainstorming smear ideas for potential opponent Ashley Judd, including the actress’ activism and her struggles with depression. But McConnell and Fox News have diverted attention with accusations that “Watergate-style bugging” was used to obtain the recording. “Of course, bugging is a totally different thing than actually recording, as Mitt Romney will tell you,” Shure says. Robillard points out that the leak may ultimately gain McConnell sympathy. “At the beginning of the day, the story was ‘Is it OK for Mitch McConnell to talk about Ashley Judd’s mental health?’” he says. “By the end of the day, Mitch McConnell was just able to talk about how the left was oppressing him or being unfair to him.”
