Cenk is ready to declare a guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin shooting, but it isn’t a person. “To me, guns are the biggest problem,” Cenk says. “That kid would be alive today if George Zimmerman didn’t have a gun… Your fetish for guns and feeling so manly over having a gun is killing people, it’s killing thousands of people… We turned a whole country into an OK Corral… The country is sick with it… I know, progressives aren’t supposed to fight back on this. Nobody’s supposed to fight back. We’re just supposed to lie down and go, ‘OK, NRA, I know you represent the gun manufacturers.’ But at least someone’s got to stand up to you, and it’s going to happen right here.”

"Whether you think Zimmerman is gulty or not, in a court of law, that's an open question... But to me, guns are the biggest problem here. If George Zimmerman doesn't have a gun, he probably doesn't even run after Trayvon Martin. But you know what? Even if he did, they'd have a fight and no one would have died. That kid that you just saw -- he's 17 years old -- he would be alive today if George Zimmerman didn't have a gun. Now I know everyone's gonna say, 'oh, no, I need a gun to shoot deer,' but guns also shoot human beings. Let me give you a sense of the scope of the problem in this country... You know who's number one in the world for most guns owned? The United States per capita: 90 guns for every 100 people. The entire country has turned into the OK Corral. Yemen is number 2 -- we're crushing them! They've got 61 guns per 100 people. By the way, how's it working out for Yemen so far? And then, out of the 8 million guns that are manufactured every year, 4.5 million of them are bought here in the USA. WE ARE GUN SICK. We're sick in the head with guns. Now get a load of this: in other developed countries, they don't have anywhere near the number of deaths we have among children. In fact, American children are 11 times more likely to die in an accident that in other developed countries. Your guns sometimes kill deer... But sometimes they kill innocent babies.
"In 2009 there were 11,493 homicides by gun alone -- these are only gun related deaths -- over 1,800 suicides and 554 accidental deaths -- which, to me, is actually the worst stat. Now you've got a hobby -- maybe it's hunting and you're so proud of it... Well, my hobby is fantasy football: it doesn't kill 554 people a year by accident. So you've got to understand that your fetish for guns and feeling so manly for having a gun, is killing people. It's killing thousands of people. Yes, I understand it has an upside. It also has a gigantic downside... If there was no gun there that day, Trayvon Martin would be alive today. But no, the country is sick with this. SICK with it. Everybody's gotta have a gun and they gotta measure how much of a man they are based on their gun. Look, you're endangering yourself, you're endangering your kids and you're also endangering your neighbors... I'm sick of it, man. I know, I know -- progressives aren't supposed to fight back on this. Nobody's supposed to fight back -- we're just supposed to lie down and say, 'okay, NRA... I know you represent the gun manufacturers and then get rich off of all those people dying.' And you use all your fancy arguments and you've already bought all the politicians... But someone's gonna stand up to you and it's gonna happen right here. You don't like it, that's too bad."
