NRA sponsoring a NASCAR race: Does it add insult to injury in the gun control debate?

Guest host Michael Shure speaks to ColorOfChange’s Rashad Robinson and Craig Birnbach, sports director for KATU-TV, about the NRA sponsoring NASCAR’s Texas 500 race. The event used to be sponsored by Winston Cigarettes, but that deal ended, in part, because of how controversial it became to have a cigarette company as a sponsor. But Birnbach says, “I don’t think it means much to (NASCAR fans) who sponsors the event. I mean, people love drivers, people love the sport, but you mentioned Winston leaving — it was about money too. Winston was losing money, so they didn’t have as much to put into a sponsorship. … I don’t think this is a political thing.”
