Jeff Greenfield on what the world might have looked like if 2000 election and Gore v. Bush had gone the other way

Cenk talks to journalist Jeff Greenfield, author of “43*: When Gore Beat Bush,” about his “counterfactual history” that imagines a very different outcome of the 2000 election. It’s not a wholly rosy picture, and even the decision to go to war could have been very complex: “The politics would have been much tougher. Remember, Vice President Lieberman — who would have been vice president — would have been as eager to go into Iraq as Dick Cheney was,” Greenfield theorizes. Cenk says, “When you said ‘Vice President Lieberman,’ it sent a chill down my spine.” But they agree that who is ultimately in charge can have a huge impact on history.
