Cenk talks to journalist Jeff Greenfield, author of “43*: When Gore Beat Bush,” about his “counterfactual history” that imagines a very different outcome of the 2000 election. It’s not a wholly rosy picture, and even the decision to go to war could have been very complex: “The politics would have been much tougher. Remember, Vice President Lieberman — who would have been vice president — would have been as eager to go into Iraq as Dick Cheney was,” Greenfield theorizes. Cenk says, “When you said ‘Vice President Lieberman,’ it sent a chill down my spine.” But they agree that who is ultimately in charge can have a huge impact on history.
