Panetta extends more benefits to same-sex military spouses, but DOMA prevents couples from receiving federal equality

Cenk Uygur talks to Marine Capt. Matthew Phelps about outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta extending more benefits to military spouses in same-sex couples. Although the Defense of Marriage Act still prevents Panetta from granting federal benefits to same-sex couples, Phelps points out that the military has made significant progress in the last two years. He says, “To put it into perspective, two years ago, I could have lost my job for talking to you today.”
