Plenty of rich guys have been president — but is Romney just too out of touch with his own wealth?

Guest host Brian Unger asks the Power Panel — “Daily Show” co-creator Lizz Winstead, Amanda Terkel and Ari Berman — whether Mitt Romney is simply too rich to be a viable candidate for president. While plenty of wealthy men have occupied the White House, all the panelists agree Romney seems particularly out of touch.

“I think maybe that dog ate the tax returns,” Winstead says. “The bigger issue is somebody who is the son of a rich guy who never learned about noblesse oblige.”

Terkel points out that Romney’s father released 12 years of tax returns as governor.

“Mitt Romney isn’t committing to that — even though he often invokes his father,” Terkel says.
