Cenk asks his Power Panel whether Obama has beaten Republicans at their own game by adopting many of their policies.
Adam Green, of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, says, “[Obama] could have ad an era of accountability with Wall Street bankers in jail and, frankly, some Bush administration officials in jail…but unfortunately he settled.”
Michael Hirsh points out, “The whole political axis has been moving ever more rightward.”
And Tina Dupuy of ‘Crooks and Liars’ adds, “FDR didn’t start off as FDR, he had to be kind of pushed into by circumstance of when he was president. Barack Obama started off as kind of progressive, and then he’s moved to the right because of circumstances — and he can also move to the left. The two presidents that he likes to emulate and talk about are Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Those were both Republicans.”
