Virginia’s war on women would mandate invasive ultrasounds before abortions

Ana Kasparian talks to David Englin, a member of Virginia’s house of delegates, about a new bill that would require women to receive an invasive ultrasound before having an abortion, even in their first trimester — when it is not medically necessary.

Ana points out that an amendment to require a woman’s consent for the procedure was crushed by Republican delegates.

“How is that not considered state-sanctioned rape?” Ana asks.
