With a new poll finding a majority of liberal Democrats — not to mention moderate and conservative Democrats — are in favor of keeping Guantanomo open and in favor of executing U.S. citizen abroad without any due process. Is that just because President Obama has made the case for these conservative positions?
Power Panelists John Fugelsang and “Epic Politics Man” Michael Shure and Cenk debate whether the left is just as guilty of groupthink as we so often say the right is.
“This is an election year,” Shure says, “and this is the wrong time to bring up intra-party wedge issues. The Democrats have to work on group-agree if they’re not going to work on groupthink right now.”
Fugelsang says, “The more that independents see real, actual liberals criticizing a Democratic president, the more it solidifies the president as a centrist.”
