    • This pod was especially interesting to me because I learned all about the Palio and even visited Siena while I was studying in Italy. This pod is an example of showing not telling. They didn't use text or voiceovers to impress upon the viewer what a big deal the Palio is to the Sienese, but rather showed us through beautiful wide and tight shots of the thousands of people gathering to watch the race. I saw and felt the suspense and prior to the gunshot, sensed the urgency and cries of "vai" during the race, and saw the juxtaposition of sheer bliss and absolute devastation after the race. Awesome pod, wish I could go back there.

    • I love the Palio! It's really an amazing event loaded with Siena's culture and history. I thought the pod did a really good job of capturing the excitement and fervor of the event, but I would have liked to have heard a little bit more about what happens when your contrade wins. Do special banners get put up all over the place? What does it mean for the normal lives of the person in the victorious party? With that said, though, the pod was well built, had a nice pace; the voice overs weren't rushed and they build up the main event well. There's plenty of room for the viewer to take in the spectacle of the Palio and yet the pod is under five minutes, which is a testament to the editing. Nice job!

    • I can't for the life of me imagine that we have an event of this magnitude in the States. These images show this city literally overflowing with people. It makes New Year's in Times Square look like a joke. Great Pod!

    • I really find it intresting how people in other countries celebrate, they're so passionate and and overjoyous it always seems to gather people in by the masses as well. This clip just does'nt portray a race in Italy but shows how much love these people have for life and just living.

    • An exciting video, it captured the scene . . . as close as I will come today to actually being there.

I look forward to more Peter Mann.

    • I've also been to the palio, it was the most exciting minute of my life
the first three horses finished without jockeys and a few crashed into one of the padded walls right next to where I was. Anyone who visits Italy during august MUST go, you won't regret it

    • I went to the Palio and it was hands down one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I've never felt such an intense and profound energy in one place. Initially it was announced that the Nicchio's had won, and then after they announced that in fact it was the Oca's, everyone went crazy; there were people crying, hugging, throwing themselves on their knees to the floor... it was intense. When I saw this video on Current it was an amazing feeling to relive the experience.
