It's wonderful that women have this opportunity....and the woman running it seems appreciative of her emplooyee's efforts, so it's a win-win.....awesome...

I'm quite happy with the introduction of this service. As a frequent visitor to Mumbai, I had to schedule my flights so that I was in the city by late afternoon. This is definately a blessing

This is pretty cool. It creates a specific niche for female employment and, in a way, leads to empowerment. Really good idea that seems to be doing well. I like that they are able to use this as, so many above have said, bonding time between women and that it also is a fully functional business that goes beyond just said bonding. (I am also a guy, by the way). Must say that I would not want my girlfriend as a taxi driver though. SCARY!
And not only was what bepobo said absolutely unnecessary, it is one of the exact reasons that things like this need to happen more.

good pod, i think that women would feel safer getting into a cab with a woman driver than a male driver.

Yeah, I definitely agree that this type of taxi service is more applicable in a place like Bombay, but it's a very good and unque idea. It's nice that they include senior citizens and children as well.
I'm not so sure a concept like that would fly in the US, but I really do think that it is a cool business idea that has obviously been successful. I mean, in a male-drive world culture, there have to be different paths that women must take to regain some of the control that men have usurped (and this is coming from a guy btw).
And it's very nice to see that women use this taxi as a way of bonding and providing a mode of transportation that is more than about getting whoever to wherever and getting some cash out of it. Word.

Excellent POD. To know how unique and innovative this service is, you have to understand Indian culture. But what about right here in USA. On 2/25/08, San Carlos police arrested a taxi driver on suspicion of raping a female passenger who passed out in his cab after he picked her up at a bar. And San Francisco could use more female cab drivers. Of course this is based on the assumption that female drivers on the whole are safe drivers.

I think this service should be provided in other countries, because sometimes taxi drivers cross the line, specially with women.
This idea should be proposed in other countries in order to women feel more secure in a taxi. - 4 years ago

I love this idea! Sure it does seem a little sexist because only women can use the taxis, but for many women, this seems like a great novelty. Is the company charging the same amount as other taxi companies? My one concern though is this-- don't people tend to think that women are bad drivers? Is that purely an American stereotype, or is it transnational?
If I'm ever in Bombay, I'll be calling up Forsche.

I think this is a slippery slope. If men started doing this it would almost undoubtedly be called sexist. But for women to do it, it's empowering? I find it hard to see the logic in this.

Nice pod :) I think it makes more sense in Bombay, where it would be a more useful service..But I also believe there could also be a service where you have well-trained taxi drivers that could be men and women who have a nice personality and drive safely.

I really like this service. It's a great opportunity for women to be safe and secure as well as provide jobs and show they're equally competent.
It'd be funny and interseting if men started the same type of service for only men... - 4 years ago

Pink Ladies is a similar initiative which was started up in the UK. I can't decide whether this is a great move forward for considering personal safety - or if what we should really be concentrating on is making penalties tougher for people who try to assault women. It's a tough one.
