Baby Tossing

Only 900 years after Prophet Muhammad's death, Muslims are doing garbage like this. Thats crazy! And I hope they stop doing it.

This is VERY, VERY misleading. There is no ritual in Islam about tossing babies like that.

It can't be more dangerous than driving our kids in cars and feeding them over processed crap.

One of my immediate concerns was one the video addressed-- don't kids get a little messed up being dropped like that? I mean- that sheet is pulled pretty taut. You hit that thing just right going that fast from that high up and it would be no impossible feat to break your neck! So I thought it was really interesting to read that so far there have been no injuries. (I forget how they actually worded it. Perhaps there *have* been injuries, but none that cause permanent disabilities?)

My worries eased, I was able to watch again and get a good chuckle out of watching the drop-fall-bounce-catch-pass progression for each child. There was this rhythm to it that everyone actively involved seemed to be very familiar with.

I don't think I'll ever find myself dropping my potential future kiddies off a building for good luck, but I did enjoy seeing this tradition in action and think it's pretty cool that these folks have kept this tradition alive.

Wow. I would be concerned with brain trama. I chuckled a little when I read the title, but it's very interesting. And I really like the comment about the trust in the community. I thought that was very interesting. Something that I hadn't necessarily considered. 500 years is quite a claim, although the truth to that is questionable. As long as nobody is getting hurt, I see no problem with it. I'm diggin' the music.

The other choice was letting the kid sit on Brit Spears' lap while driving on the L.A. freeways.

Now I know this is a cultural ritual but Its still a bit freaky x_X I can get what jade_azul16 says about the sense of trust in the community, and it does look a lil fun but I think if it wasn't 50ft, maybe more like 10ft or if they were older and they wanted to be thrown then it would be alot less dsiturbing to some people. But I dunno about that nobody getting hurt thing, that just looks like bad thing waiting to happen. lol but this was a very entertaining pod Kudos :D

See, I know I should respect their rituals, and what not. But it all seems very wrong.

I have never seen this practice of beliefs before.To me this is barbaric and dangerous but as long as infants do not suffer damage from it this is fine by me. But it is still dangerous.

Beliefs are beliefs. As long as these children aren't hurt, people should respect their culture.

wow, that was freaky to watch a baby bounce. I wonder what happens if they flip in the air and land head 1st snapping their fragile necks. Guess its a different culture so i shouldn't complain. Cool Pod!

My mom still freaks out about the time I managed to get out of my high chair and took a flying leap onto the kitchen floor. Maybe I should show this to her and she won't feel as bad!

It's like that Planet Earth episode (seasonal forests) where the ducklings have to jump out of the tree and they land and bounce in a pile of leaves! Yes, exactly like that. How does that work.. it seems like necks should be getting snapped

I don't think that this is terrible at all. It develops an extreme trust in the community and allows neighbors to know that they care for each other's children.

And besides, can you imagine being the father tossing your child off of a tower and just hoping that someone at the bottom will catch him or her? Just seems like something to bring all of the people together.

oh, come on!! it is really interesting, if i were a baby i would love to experience something like this... almost like bungee jumping... or maybe not lol

holy sht! I went through a similar thing when i was 9 months old - but it involved a bottle of night train, a lot of arguing, and there was no sheet.

i bet its safer that driving with your child in the car

seems like a lot could go wrong here.
