This is a fantastic idea. I think it is great to merge the world of the tourist with a more local experience. Let's face it when you go abroad you are by definition a tourist but it's when you go beyond just seeing the sights to experiencing what is around you that you gain a more enriching experience.

I think this is a great idea! I love tuning in to current and hearing about a bunch of new stuff. I plan on using like a local.com next year for my big european trip!

Whenever I travel, I try to see things from a local's perspective. This will be helpful.

This was great, I hate looking like a tourist. I am always in awe of monuments and good architecture but I hate being another gawking tourist. Great Idea!

Great pod man. Surprisingly I have never heard of the site before.
Also, I see that your boys just won the Euro Final. Congrats!

Another site that offers similar services, however couchsurfing has many homes to say at and it is a person by person basis, almost like a dating service...but instead of dating your chilling at their place :)
oh and many 'Couches' are FREE. - 3 years ago

This sounds awesome! It's exactly what a lot of people are looking for nowadays when travelling - not to be bunched up with a crowd of other people who are just like you viewing someone else's world from behind a sheet of glass, like some sort of exhibit!
It's so much more refreshing and eye-opening and fun to get to know a place that is so different and yet so similar compared to where you live. If I travelled more I would definitely be up to this. - 3 years ago

Still, it's hard to beat the experiences and free opportunities offered through CouchSurfing. From what I can tell, you can get all the same services that Like A Local provides for no cost via CS-- and it feels much more like a true community of travelers, hosts, and friends rather than a business.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. What a weird concept - a glorified tour guide. CS is so much better and so much more legitimate.
And of course there is so much less interest in a pod about the 600,000 people who do that for free...just a pod about a clever business rather than a worldwide open-heart movement....

I think this is truly awesome! Im finally at a point in my life where I can start traveling and Im definitely all about seeing a town thru the eyes of a local. My bf is lucky since he gets sent all over the world for work and when he gets to those cities the company has local employees that show him around. Im heading to Japan this fall...I wish this program existed there!
I hope they set one up for San Francisco soon! I know tons of people (myself included) who would love to participate in this!

like a local is awesome! after my foreign semester i always make a point to stay in cities where i have friends because they give the best tours. how smart for a company to capitalize one that! wish i thought of it!

i'm spending my summer in ny right now and all of my family is busy so i can't get around. it would be great to find local clubs and things to do since i don't like tourists attractions.
they need more new yorkers to sign up! be a local!

I enjoyed the video and the idea.
I would try the Like A Local service. I am not in the market for it now but perhaps in the future. - 3 years ago

I dont think i would like this program. I would much rather do my own exploration, there is much better ways in my opinion to look non-touristy and have fun then playing follow the leader.
If i would go to any of the cities they offered i would give it a try, but i am bit skeptical of the idea.
