Holy Cow it's a Party!

In South India, the Pongal harvest festival is as eagerly anticipated as Christmas. We celebrate the 3 day festival when the town throngs with visitors celebrating the harvest with cows dressed up like Christmas trees

    • Well done, Pamela. Good to see your work. I thought it was a thoughtful story about the way people live now outside a western sphere of reference, and I am big on oral and vernacular histories. It would have been nice to know a bit more about the orgin of the festival and why the cow is so revered (though we got a jist re its usefulness: its provision of milk, ghee etc), and it was a shame that the cows were being paraded in the night when the lighting wasn't so great to see the details of them in all their fineries. However, a nice story,well told. Well done.

    • I liked this short a lot. I thought it was a very interesting observational documentary on a sacred event that mixed both the celebration and the spiritual sides of this harvest festival in an insightful and visually attractive way whilst also giving off interesting information on the background of the festival in historical terms.
