Green party advocates one big phone network to save energy

This is a great idea by the Green Party - they want the government to force the mobile phone networks to merge their network of masts around the country into one, to save energy to the tune of 300 gigawatt hours a year - as less masts will be needed to serve the same areas.

The other upshot of this, I imagine, would be that everyone will get the same sort of mobile phone coverage. Which would be very good if you're on T-Mobile, who currently don't tend to get a signal in far-flung places as "Leicester" or "indoors".
