    • I really enjoyed this film far more than i thought i would. The story was suprisingly really good and the graphics like all animated kids movies were great. The did guess the end quite a way through but that didn't bother me this film was still a really good watch. 8/10

    • Taken from Tim Isaac's review of Bolt on moviemuser.co.uk:
It was inevitable that the film would be compared to Pixar’s efforts, especially as the plot seems to take inspiration from Toy Story (i.e. Bolt not realising he’s a TV star is similar to Buzz Lightyear not knowing he’s a toy, while a cat bitter she’s been abandoned by their owner is reminiscent of Jessie from Toy Story 2). It’s not on a par with Pixar, but it is good, with some great visual design, a very effective voice cast and some superbly over the top action sequences. It may not be the most memorable animated movie ever, but it’ll certainly entertain the nippers...
It all makes for a disc that’s entertaining if not stunningly memorably. If you’ve got kids, they’re likely to enjoy the flick as it’s fast paced, quite funny and certainly action packed. It probably won’t become a classic, but if this is a taste of where Disney is heading, it could well manage to grab back its animation crown over the next few years.

    • I loved Bolt. Sure it was a little twee and 2D (not literally!), but it's an enjoyable and wonderfully funny film and a fantastic start to John Lasseter taking over the reigns at Disney.
It does have shortcomings though; the major plot turn is given up half-way through, by a reveal that totally subverts the wit and humour the film had developed to that point.
All in all, at time of release, it was an oasis of humour in the otherwise sickening February period of oscar-pandering movies and definitely top of the dog movie flicks (Marnie & Me, Hotel For Dogs) that came out last year.

    • I can't wait for this to come out. I never got round to seeing it in the cinema, but I've seen the trailer numerous times and I'm very excited about it.
There's nothing better than a Disney film to cheer you up, and I think this could be one for the collection.

Bolt has a great list of cast who provide the voices, including popular teen favourite Miley Cyrus and Grease's John Travolta.

I've heard a lot of good things about this film so I'm looking forward to an afternoon of watching the latest Disney Pixar film.

    • I have to confess I enjoyed Bolt - the hamster was far and away the best thing in the film (the rest of it was quite flabby).

I'm such a sucker for animated films, I really am. x
