This is the best news I've heard all week - a new study from a team at Harvard Medical School says snacking on peanuts or peanut butter at least five days a week can nearly halve the risk of a heart attack.

Their findings support earlier studies on the cardiovascular benefits of peanuts and peanut products. Researchers say peanuts and peanut butter could also be helping by reducing inflammation in the body, or boosting the health of blood vessels around the heart.

    • Mmmmmmmm...Great News!!!

I have a taste for peanut butter sandwiches. These are especially delicious when dipped in a cup of coffee (provided it is made using coffeemate or evaporated milk). Have to eat it quick before it falls apart....

Another good way of eating this scrummy food is in big dollops on slices of crisp apple....the contrast between the sticky peanut butter and crisp clean apple is exquisite..

    • I use peanut butter under daily basis, but I am confused again. One serving of peanut butter I use consists about 16g of fat, that is about 25% of the DV. I dont understand the justification here, too much fat is bad as long as it is not from peanut butter.
Maybe what does not kill you make you stronger, mmh. I am totaly lost, again.

    • When I was a kid-you know when dinosaurs ruled the world-we used to buy Oxheart penut butter. If you haven't already surmised that they knew then what the article is reviving now, then know this too: We were lucky enough to buy it in its natural state. Unless you Current web readers go to a natural health food store and buy it, you've probably never seen peanut butter in its natural state. The peanut oil separates and floats to the top, so that you have to stir it before you can spread it on bread. Am still not sure whether back in 10,000 B.C.(1964) the Oxheart producers processed organicly grown peanuts as you'd find in a natural health food store of today. But any step away from adulterating vegatable oils into saturated fat is an improvement. Some probiotic yogurt, a peanut butter sandwich on toasted 12 grain bread and a banana make a fortifying breakfast for anyone. Even if you're working outside in Winter.

If you're working outside in winter, you can eat pretty much anything - a 16 hour day digging holes in frozen ground means there's nothing at all wrong with piling peanut butter or anything else into you.

Thing is, people are going to read this and *not* be working outside. They're going to be sitting at home doing SFA but wathing Oprah and eating. They'll pile on the peanut butter, and the pounds, and then die of heart disease.

      Moderation people, moderation.
