Dwarf planet inspires watch creation

The dwarf planet Eris is the inspiration behind the creation of the Pierr Junod Eris Watch, designed by students from Geneva, Switzerland.

The spherical shape of the watch, along with the function of the watch-hands, make this an unconventional time-telling device. The minutes are positioned on the 'northern hemisphere' while the hours are positioned on the 'southern hemisphere'. The Eris watch can be worn as a pendant or sported as a pocket watch or placed as a desk clock.

The Pierre Junod Eris Watch is priced at $450 (£280).
