From the medium’s inception, Japan seemed to have no qualms in dealing with themes no heavier than those found in movies and TV, such violence and sexuality. However, NoA maintained strict rules and took great efforts stateside to keep games sterile and sanitized, as if intended for airings on Saturday mornings. Plenty of developers have come forward to bitch since the Big N vacated the throne, but we’ve taken that one step further and gathered visual evidence of all the naughtiness Nintendo of America never wanted you to see.

Nintendo will only suffer from the censorship it puts on its games. People who want to see blood and reality will go someplace else, like the PS3 or the Xbox 360, or abandon console gaming and become PC gamers...

Just another reason that back then, just as now, PC gaming is where it's at.
Although I had some very fond memories of the donkey kong series.

I'm a huge PC gamer, I don't even play console games anymore. I used to play some when I was younger, but not anymore.

The thing about this article is that is showing Nintendo what they censored. The NES, SNES, and GameBoy games have alot to do with what was allowed in Japan and not allowed in the USA. And the ports were to show what were censored (even from N64 to Virtual Console.)
AND DO YOU THINK THAT THEY GUYS WHO BROUGHT YOU THIS ARTICLE:
http://www.gamesradar.com/f/what-if-a-nuclear-bomb-went-off-in-supermans-ass/a-2...
ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS, AS WELL? NO, THEY KNOW THAT THEY ARE COMPLAINING OVER A COUPLE OF PIXLES (or a level in Dukes case) AND MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF NOTHING!
If you reading this and don't know anything about the site, I understand why you take this seriously. But the editors aren't. So...FAIL.

Well, you have to think about what age group was buying NES, Gameboy, and SNES in America. Young kids!
You can call it censorship if you want, I would call it good marketing strategy, and it worked very well. Now they have a good reputation because of it.

It's a mixed bag. Sure they were super censored, but the medium itself might not have taken off the way it did had they been left alone. The world was a much different place and we have just recently gotten over beating a hooker up to get your sex cash back.

What about shadow of the colossus? Even though it's on playstation I heard that the main character is actually a girl but they changed it over here because they didn't want a lesbian main character. Is this true?
