Could the Gears of War franchise finally be getting its first playable female character? …maybe. It’s the weekend, “real” news doesn’t happen.

Speaking with 1 vs. 100 LIVE host Chris Cashman during the August 1st live game, Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski, better known to gamers as “Cliffy B”, “The Cliffster” and “Captain Snugglepuff”* was asked if gamers could ever expect to play as a female character in a Gears of War game. Cliff’s answer, in short, was that he could not comment on “possible aspects” of a game that “may or may not” be in development.

    • As great as it is to push more females into gaming I do not think that putting a female character in Gears would be too much of a smart move. Gears is a mostly male kills monster game... I can't see a female tearing locust apart I am sorry if I have offended someone but, just doesn't seem theoretical =\

      It's not as much of a stretch as you may think - remember Vasquez from Aliens? It wouldn't be a big stretch to see her in COG armor with a Lancer instead of the huge-ass hip-cannon she had in the movie.
