    • I'll keep this one short for those who have the short attention spans - This game is a novelty that you'll play 3 or 4 times at most, if you had Wii Sports (Which I assume most Wii owners did) it is essentially the same but it'll take twice as long to be put on the shelf and gather dust as it has twice as much material. This game is REALLY REALLY good, but only for a couple of hours.

    • Yeah...im going to go ahead and wait for project natal to come out for the 360. Nintendo has not come out with anything worth playing since the N64

    • This is a sequel to the original "Wii Sports" that comes bundled with every Nintendo Wii. And it's more of the same, but with the new MotionPlus accessory.

The MotionPlus device provides more accurate tracking of your movements than the Wiimote does on it's own. Y'know how sometimes when you're playing the Golf game on Wii Sports the controller doesn't register your swing correctly or takes a wild shot when you didn't move? Well the MotionPlus accessory should spell an end to all of that.

Like the original, this is a collection of sports games designed to be played on your own or with friends. And this is the big problem. The single player mode is utterly lacking and quite pointless to play. So it's multi-player or nothing. Online play is completely absent (why Nintendo, why?). So you're left to play with your mates when they're round your house. So you need a separate controller and MotionPlus accessory for each of them. The game (40 quid) comes with one MotionPlus unit and additional ones costs 20 quid each. Luckily many of the games allow you to play with one WiiMote by taking turns. But it's a lot less fun playing one at a time than going head to head. Mind you, only one game supports four simultaneous players...

So what's in this package and what's actually new or good?

Swordplay - Well, it's fun, but you'll soon just be waggling the control almost randomly and winning will come down to luck. Oh dear. But there is a mode where objects are thrown in the air and you have to slice them. This is great fun in multiplayer.

Wakeboarding - Good as a single player event, but you take turns for multiplayer, but you hold the controller horizontally and tilt it back and forth, thus negating the point of the MotionPlus controller.

      Frisbee - dull

Canoeing - dull, dull, dull. And you'll soon get tired of waving the controller around like the light-saber kid.

Archery - Well, it's okay. The mechanic is good. Hold the WiiMote as your bow and draw back with the Nunchuk. Whilst it's initially fun, you'll soon get a bit bored of it. It's better if you're drunk though.

Bowling - Well, it's pretty much the same as the original, but with a couple of modes nicked from the training section of the original.

Table Tennis - This is excellent fun and works so much better than any previous table tennis attempts. I used to play ping pong for my country (not much of an achievement outside of Asia) and I was surprised at how responsive the controls were. I was able to play pretty much as though I was at a real table. It's terrific multiplayer fun and one of the events you'll keep coming back to play.

Golf - Ooh, the difference the MotionPlus makes here is huge. My flatmate has terrible problems hitting the ball in the original. The onscreen character jumps around and fails to do what he tells it. With this version, every movement is properly tracked and you really feel in control. It's short, like the original, but it's great fun and you will keep coming back.

Basketball - lame and forgettable. I really don't want to go into why...

Power Cruising - Did you like Wave Race on the N64? I did. And I hate this. It's half a waterski game and not the good half. If you like mindlessly steering between gates, you'll love this, but you won't have any friends to play it with.

Air Sports - Did you like Pilot Wings on the SNES? I did. And I hate this. Again, it's half a game and the modes that are there are ultimately unsatisfying.

Cycling - Whirl your hands in the air copying pedal motions. Oh dear. And the lack of variety is just frustrating. Forgettable.

Overall Wii Sports Resort is good. Some of the games are rubbish and some of them are rather limiting. But you'll keep coming back to play golf, table tennis and the slice-things-in-the-air bit of the sword game. Oh and the bowling too I suppose. You'll get hours of fun with the games you do like. It's just a pity that some of the games are such missed opportunities.

    • Traveling alone can be fun, but the best holidays are often the ones you take with friends – much like Wii Sports Resort.

Playing single player in the Resort is certainly enjoyable, and while the number of activities on offer is more than double that of the original Wii Sports--means this game should hold your attention longer than the original.

Wii Sports Resort excels as being an fun, accessible and varied multiplayer experience, and while not all of its minigames are top-notch, there's plenty here to make this a great party game for any Wii owner.

Of course, to get in on the party, you'll need the new MotionPlus accessory because none of the games in Wii Sports Resort can be played without it.
One MotionPlus is bundled with the game, and many of the minigames can be played by sharing one remote and one MotionPlus with a few players. But unfortunatley you'll need to buy more if you're hoping for some simultaneous multiplayer action.

My personal favourite has to be sword fighting, where armed with a sword you have to fend off reams and reams of other mii characters as you try and survive. Think of the crazy 88 scene in kill bill, but ‘nintendofied’ and you won’t be far off.

All in all I would say that’s its definitely worth buying, despite the single player having limited appeal, the multiplayer will definitely have you coming back for more.
