Want More Xbox Live Friends? Then Lay Off Halo 2!

Microsoft has always been dodgy about why Xbox Live is unable to support more than 100 friends. Why should a next-gen console be limited by something so simple as a friend cap? Well, we finally have the answer thanks to G4’s Patrick Klepek. The reason is simple: Halo 2.

    • Being that I don't pay MS for LIVE, I have no qualms.

I usually only add people onto my consoles friend list if I know them in real time.

    • i have to agree, during the halo 2 days there were legit players and everyone, for the most part, was cool. today, there are little kids playing, there are freaking dudes screaming and i really put people who i don't know through the ringer if they want to be my friend.

    • Interesting. I can see how having a big friends list this can help bring gaming communities like together like Giant Bomb, 1Up, GamesRadar, Total Gaming Network, and (maybe) Current. But outside of that, I don't need 100 friends. I have about 60 friends and play with about 40 a month since they all play different things like Gears 2, MVC2, CoD:WaW, SFIV, and ect. Some I have on my list because I've met them before or are friends in school and ect.

      So I'm divided between this:

Do I want a friends list that thats full of people I really know but doesn't play anything else besides FPSs titles and Madden?

      or

Do I want to log on and get 50 invites to 20 different games with 200 friends online that I remotely know?

I see it like this - if you don't want it, nobody's forcing you to load up on friends you don't know.

However, there are a lot of people for whom this would be a boon - people in clans for instance. I'm not near the cap myself, but I would love to see this implemented.
