In a backlash against the US 'war on drugs', Latin America turns to a more liberal policy

The economic and social cost, plus European moves towards liberalisation, have emboldened some Latin American states to try new approaches.

    • Actually, I was quoting him for precisely those reasons. You may have noticed he's a folk hero to some who conveniently forget what a good actor he was.

    • Ummm....Ronald Regan said a whole lot of stupid, inane, useless things. He was an actor who became a politician, for God's sake!

Quoting Regan really should never be seen as a good thing.

    • Ronald Regan! You go girl. That shit head is sitting in Hell with a pitchfork up his ass trying to make an "Ah shucks, twenty mule team borax" deal with the devil for a mint julep. I look forward to the day when the average IQ in America soars above 90 and stupidity and amnesia cease to be the national past times.

Yeah A__hole and I belong to the NRA and was Class of '67 in country. 800 yards plus. Currently unemployed from Ronald Regan's state. Currently in Arnold's hands ---- 11.9% unemployment - moved to Washington State.

      Grow a brain,

Captain B ('67 corporal and proud of it. We were winning when I was carried out)

    • I am amazed something so banal still has the ability to invoke such passionate responses. Is this 1 of the consequences of unemployment? A lot of people are surfing the internet instead of working?
I just remembered something Ronald Regan said, "Unemployment is a paid vacation for the indigent? Lazy? Lower class?" Something like that.
Toke, toke that funny cigarette, y'all.

    • So many Americans are making big $$$$$$$$$ on the war on drugs, including that ex-general who has been on
nbc often (forgot his name) and because of the $$$$$$$$ these people are making we are likely to continue with our out of date policies.

    • "Drugs make you weak minded?" Depends on the drug. All of football makes you weak minded. Yell together now, "go Raiders" and scratch your balls. Who wanted to keep prohibition going? The Mafia. Give evolution a chance and cull the heard. Control drugs, no, control reproduction. Let the feeble OD and reduce crime in the process. Do not believe that which brings you consolation.

    • It's about time. We used to be able to buy cooperation for even the most ill advised ideas but it appears the people South of us are finally developing a voice of their own.
      Good for them!

    • There is nothing constitutional nor American about the War On Drugs, that is a collectivist policy, a statist policy. America is SUPPOSE to be about Liberty.

    • GodsnLiberals:

Lol, "dope". Do you mean marijuana or heroin? It's really a murky and bad term to use if you want to refer to a specific drug, but I guess it works if you're trying to look like an out-of-touch person when it comes to drugs.
