Coverage under Obamacare will require an implantable microchip

There's a pretty starling thing in the bill that 95% of Americans won't like.

The Obama Health care bill under Class II (Paragraph 1, Section B) specifically includes ‘‘(ii) a class II device that is implantable." Then on page 1004 it describes what the term "data" means in paragraph 1, section B:

14 ‘‘(B) In this paragraph, the term ‘data’ refers to in15
formation respecting a device described in paragraph (1),
16 including claims data, patient survey data, standardized
17 analytic files that allow for the pooling and analysis of
18 data from disparate data environments, electronic health
19 records, and any other data deemed appropriate by the
20 Secretary"

What exactly is a class II device that is implantable? Lets see...

Your response has a nice ring to it -- might be a lyric from a country song -- but in relation to the established facts it is so far wrong it is equivalent to a lie. You're not truth-telling; I don't buy the truth-seeking, so you must be fear mongering. Why do you contradict the established reality? Why do you waste everyone's time that way? The most appalling and terrifying thing about Tea Baggers and their ilk is the way they put wishful thinking above rational thinking. Saying something loudly and repeatedly doesn't make it true. And you all are as afraid of accountability as you are of logical argument. Truly makes me queasy that I'm expected to call y'all "fellow Americans" -- you're evangelist cretinists.

The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of people out there who would like to think everything is going fine and would rather call people names than to face the truth. That is fine but I assure you that my guide is the Bible and humanity will never be fine nor has it ever been fine as the Bible speaks clearly on the imperfection and corrupt state we are all in, myself included. The fear comes when you are faced with a truth that you do not accept. And then you have to realize that there is absolute truth and that comes from the word of God only. I face the truth and accept it and others do not and will call us names and say we are spreading fear. But again I will say that I am not fear mongering, but truth seeking.

    • it's really disturbing to see such obvious garbage in my news stream. I understand that Current is a community based rather than a professional organization but one mean-spirited and ignorant piece like this wipes out the credibility of hundreds of worthwhile posts. The standards of the community have to be higher than what this post represents. In other words, spreading crap is bad for everyone and each individual has to hold themselves to basic honesty and accuracy. How come you got no shame sergio80?

    • I am a nurse and we have everything on people we can go to the computer and see if you are doctor hopping and going to different pharmacies. We know all ready everything, it's on computer. We have had this since 2003. Computers are great things and to the junkie its a bad thing. We don't need an inplatable device thats nonsence.

    • tribe2 smoked this "conservative fuck-up du jour" so well that there isn't much to add...

...except that there is no such thing as an Obama health care bill. The last time I checked, President Obama was...well...the President and NOT a member of Congress.

Congress tends to get all "territorial" when folks just start dropping in off the street and introducing legislation...go figure. Yes, that includes Presidents...

For one, I checked this the last time this subject was posted. It's false, completely false.

‘‘(ii) a class II device that is implantable,
      life-supporting, or life-sustaining.

Page 1001 lines 3 and 4 clearly state that this registry is for life-supporting, or life-sustaining devices such as a pacemaker. The truth is that such devices already have to be registered and data collected.

RFID chip is hardly life-supporting, or life-sustaining.
although it is considered a class II implantable device.

    • The above article is basically accurate.

Please refer to the text of the bill found here:

      energycommerce.house.gov/Press_111/20090714/aahca.pdf

      or simply google "hr3200 pdf"

      Read from p1001-

Such measures are very disturbing. Even if an implantable rfid cheap is not mandatory at first, a general climate could and most likely would eventually arise where most feel compelled to get one due to lower premiums and other financial incentives offered by public option insurance, which will become the primary provider for most Americans. Even if you support the public option, this portion of the bill is extremely off putting if you value your liberty.

    • airwaves87:

For one, it is true- just check the legislation. Secondly, on what are your assertion that the government would die? Third, Even if it is not mandatory, if it becomes even remotely common wouldn't it bother you? Rfid chips are already being used in numerous situations to track individuals. Please research.

While the quotation is accurate, the pretext and conclusion of this post is completely false and baseless.
Just picking out paragraphs without any context but then using that to make wild claims is moronic at best.
Once you read the whole section (Subtitle C, p. 1001 - 1007) you see there is no basis for this post.

The text is plain that there will be a registry of implanted devices (e.g. pacemakers) so that the efficacy or safety of new or existing devices can be more easily studied.

      Seriously, people.
