Thank you WORLDwrite for making this film.
My little family and I went through the channel tunnel this summer in order to drive to Switzerland. It's astonishing to think that those little maroon books give us free passage through the borders of Europe, while the migrants in your film are seeing their lives wasting away because they don't have this freedom.
Congratulations again on the the film. - 2 years ago

'I love rap' says one victim of Besson's clearing orders. Simple and effective, these words I feel I will never forget.

This is very disturbing and anti-humane.I ask for the Britsh Goverment to intervene. They play part in the reason why those children are there to begin with. You cant escape reality people please keep activating.

People who show so much determination and put so much effort into achieving a better live should be given at least a chance. I myself am from Switzerland and due to my swissness I am almost welcome everywhere. Nobody can choose where he /she is born. Thats why I am for the opening of the UK border.

What a great report - it is sickening that the British government is complicit in this. I sincerely hope that this report gets widely seen.

It is a shame that these people have to go through such an ordeal just to live out their life's aspiration.
This film is very expositary and many people need to be informed of what is going on in the Calias jungle especially as they are about to be 'cleared' out in a few days. They have gone through so much hurt in their journey to where they are now.The doors should not be shut in their faces having come so far.People need to have the rights to live where they choose!

I sympathise with the people in this film who just want a better life for themselves in another country. I moved from the UK to Italy 12 years ago to improve my life. Why shouldn't people from Africa have the same right?

The stories from some of these teenagers and young people are inspiring. If this was a Pop idol show, think how many votes they'd get.

The media often portrays and bombards us with the view that immigrants are lazy, take 'our' jobs and take advantage of our welfare system and the NHS, so I think this is why most of us do not question the excessively tight immigration controls; its as if immigration may 'harm' us in some way. These are young aspiring men hoping to better themselves, I believe they should be given every opportunity to better themselves and improve their quality of life. What is so wrong about wanting to better oneself even if it means moving to another country? If I was these brave men position I would be doing the exact same thing. Its odd how an individual from a European country could move any where else in the world and not face the stigmatization these men do. What's with the opposition with immigrants from non-European countries?

I hope this video inspires people to campaign for freedom of movement for all.
The French immigration minster Besson has come out and said that they plan to clear the all the "jungles" in Calais and there are reports that police are now surrounding all the camps. But where are these people going to go?
Immigration controls create hierarchies that discriminate against large groups of people.

This video gave a fantastic and compelling response to the normal documentaries we see on main stream tv about immigration and border control. I think that what is happening is absolutely terrible. Its strange how this place, their only home is named 'the jungle'. A jungle being home to mainly wild, dangerous animals. This shows just how low, and unequally these people are being treated. Its disgusting and terrible, I am so thankful that there are people standing up against these inhumane crimes against our peers.

I agree with you all, and in response to SillyHo, I'll tell you how and why human beings are allowed to be treated like animals. Because we have accepted immigration laws as something that is normal and they are not, they have dehumanised people and put them into categories. For me, this video brings that out quite powerfully by showing that there is absolutely no crime in wanting to move in search of a better life and not accepting your bad luck. Powerful video guys.

Watching this for the first time, like many of the other responses, I was rather disgusted. Too watch how all these people were being put through torture just because they want a better life. Being put to a centre after all that horrific travelling..getting no where. Is it so wrong to seek a better life? But now they are "clearing" it. What will happen to these people? I hope they will be able to seek a better life.

Wow! I didn't even know these places existed so close to home! The people in this film have struggled so hard to get this far, to have a better life for themselves and what is left, in some cases, for their families. It is said in the news that they will not be sent back to their home countries, but where will they end up? In some grotty detention centre, or worse still, in prison. And for what? Wanting a better life...criminal! It is criminal they way they are being treated. Well done WORLDwrite for bringing this important issue to the attention of hopefully millions of people!

I had no idea the 'jungle' existed before seeing this film. It shouldn't really exist, but only because the migrants should be able to go whereever they like. I will be showing this to all of my friends.

Would this people's fate be any different if they somehow 'managed' to be from a 'ruling party' or a 'top military household and 'have' loads of blood money or diamond?
Its amazing how 'relaxed' the laws re when money is not an option.

Well done Onyeka for this compelling and moving pod. It is a great reality slap and medicine for all suffering from an aspiration-bypass. So many 'humanitarians' only support those who can prove their 'suffering' in their country of origin such is the asylum system. It sucks. These kids have made phenomenal journeys and are testimony to all that is great about humanity - our refusal to accept crap. Closed borders makes for closed minds and belittling what we are capable of.

Best video I've seen on Current. It is heartbreaking to hear the stories of these immigrants who live in Calais' jungle and you're left asking yourself how and why people are allowed to be treated like animals.

It’s horrible watching this powerful film and thinking that any moment the people being interviewed, who have committed no crime other than to aspire to a better life, are about to once against be uprooted. The border controls restricting the migrants from entering into the UK should be lifted at once!

They are looked at as a problem ,they don't see themselves as such. It's disgraceful and humiliating what's happening to them ,the thing that angers me even more is that they are being walked on like a carpet. This isn't what they envisioned when they left their country , they left hoping to change their lives and the lives of their families.Only few cross the borders and those few considered themselves lucky but you will not call them lucky if you know what they being through,to get to England . They are however unlucky.

Just listening to these young men talk about how they got to Calais and their situation is gut wrenching. The French Immigration Minister says those who have a case will be able to stay, as if there is such a thing as a deserving or underserving case! Anybody who has the tenacity to 'get up and go' should not be stopped settling anywhere they want to. We'd be lucky to have them in the UK. The film shows their harsh reality and challenges the UK government's border controls, let's continue to put pressure on our governments and their inhumane immigration policies.

Well said and well made WORLDwrite - we are complicit in this if we don't make our disgust clear to our own government and demand the clearances are stopped. This is not just about pity for these kids this is about what it means to be human and how we see our own humanity.

Its so disgraceful that young migrants like these are facing such a grim deal. I agree the British Government has to take responsibility for this, these are kids for goodness sake and have already travelled thousands of miles, you can't get much more aspirant and inspiring than that. The UK likes to pose as anti-racist - its a joke-what else can you call extending UK borders to Calais to stop migrants from outside Europe except racist through and through. Makes me sick.

I really liked this report, all these people want is a better life and yet they are being treated like criminals. It's disgusting, and the British government need to know we do not support their border controls. First up, this film needs to be televised and shown everywhere.

Having watched this I am so angry that these migrant kids are being treated like animals. The UK government is responsible for this not just the French. If the UK government opens the border the Calais jungle would not need to exist. If Besson clears 'the jungle' this week he will putting these aspiring younsters through further hell. I hope Current features this really important news on TV.
