It won't be the contestants performances that we remember from the first live X Factor show this year. It'll be Dannii Minogue's desperate tactic to undermine one of the obvious favourites, Danyl Johnson with an unbelievable and unnecessary slur about his sexuality

She chose the final performance from Mr Marmite Danyl , who sang Jennifer Hudson's power ballad And I'm Telling You to unleash her party trick.

In fact, Dannii could hardly hide her smirk as she told Danyl: "That was a real X Factor performance But if we're to believe everything we read in the papers," she sniped, referring to reports of his bisexuality, "then you didn't need to change the gender reference in it." Ouch!

This comment however throwaway she tries to define it as in the Sunday papers was totally uncalled for, Danni needs to remeber a person's sexuality is there own business not that of a judge on a talent show. Danyl was almost in tears at the comment which had no referance to his vocal talents whatsoever. Does Miss Minogue feel it is reasonable to make comments on other people's sexuality if so she has a very short memory both her & her sister have a very large gay following much larger then their straight followers imagine if they pulled there support over this. In my opinion she needs to make a full public apology on the show to Danyl but what are your thoughts on this?

    • This is possible the least important news I have ever heard.

And does no one remember Danni's own little dalliance with the her own sex?

    • Hello all,

Not commented here for a while but my GF asked me to show up and chime in.

So this is what I think. You've all been had by the X-Factor producers and Danni Minogue. This was absolutely planned to grab headlines and hook people into watching it.

"She said WHAT?! I can't BELIEVE THAT wretched swine would say such a thing! I am tuning in next week to express my distaste!"

I guess the only real lesson to learn from this is this; watch something better than no-mark mediocre karaoke singers jostling it out for a place in the hall of cultural insignificance. The X-Factor is as shit as the musical talent it fails to produce.

    • LOL golden tv moment! I watched this live with my mum and when we both had actually registered what had just come out oft hat womens mouth we were SHOCKED. WTF. Tbh the poor cow was probably just trying to make a point that you should be 'out and proud' when it comes being gay but instead it just came across as insensitive (to say the least.) That was not the time nor place.
I think Dani began to value her opinion a little too highly when Cheyl decided to back her up over her view on what kandy rain were wearing. As a result of that it obviously united them together and strengthened a bond which they usually lack. So maybe Dani was trying to recreate that 'bonding' moment with Cheryl again? EPIC FAIL.

    • Sorry frizzlecat but I am in agreement with richjm on this one. This site doesnt reflect correctly the opinions of the viewers. I have regularly been watching articles and I can not understand the rating system?

If an article has been posted for 3 days and has views of only 73. Please tell me how that can jump higher than another news report that has been posted for 2 days and has had views of nearly 300?

If you have inside information please let us know as I can not understand how this ystem works. I would love to know how current 'actually truly reflects the opinions of the community which uses it.'

Hey Bigredkev, as both Richjm & myself have said. What's featured in the top area is based on a number of factors. It's not just to do with page views and voting - but is also about what's topical and what people are talking about across the web & not just on Current.

Because, kev, stories the democratic majority find important should be at the top, not some bullshit "Editorial Feature". I thought Current was about raising awareness of important global issues, as voted for by the people who use this site, but I have quickly realised this is not the case. I don't know what Current is for, anymore. What's its purpose?

    • So you're saying, Richjm, that the number one story is rarely the one the community has actually voted for?
"Editorally Featured" sounds awful; meaning simply the story everyone is talking about everywhere else, and now you, Current, are jumping on the band-wagon for that story, instead of letting the public community actually choose what they want to be at the top?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, because this is starting to sound like Current doesn't actually truly reflect the opinions of the community which uses it. Between members of staff using this site, and your fernangling of the top story, why the hell do you actually need joe-public? It seems like Current just does whatever the fuck it wants regardless of the people who use it. Please, tell me I'm completely wrong and have misunderstood to the Nth degree.

As Richjm said the stories in the top module are ones which we decide to feature based on a number of factors. Voting, comments, buzz and general timeliness & topicality of the story are all taken into account - it's not just a case of voting.

We cetainly need you to keep adding stories that you find interesting and commenting on them. Everyone has different tastes & X Factor has a marmite appeal. People either love it or hate it, but it certainly grabs the headlines & is topical. It shows lots or people's obsession with celebrity & fame - even though the whole thing may turn out to have been a publicity stunt.

So please continue to add stories that you think might get people talking, whether that's in a good or bad way. And as Richjm said, submit a lot, the more you submit, there's greater liklihood for the community to comment & for stories to be featured.

Sort of missing the point, Annie.... basically a repeat of what Richjim said. It still sounds like Current jumps on the bandwagon instead of letting its community steer it. I thought Current was a bit like Digg, where all the rankings of features are based purely on votes. But... obvisouly this site is biased in one way or another.

    • Like 5 minutes ago, and I'm fairly sure about this, unless my brain skipped a few synaptic impulses, which it may have, this story did NOT exist on the Webmash front page, then all of a sudden it appears as number one in the list. ?. I'm pretty sure. Sort of.

Anyway, the fact that X-Factor is constantly on Current sucks ass, as does X-Factor. Why (how?) it became number on Webmash I haven't a clue. Also, this is another article which seems to hype the original case. I really was expecting some sort of outrageously racist homophobic comment.... there was none. And since I don't follow X-Idol, I have no idea what Danni was referencing to in the newspaper, which in turn, means absolutely nothing at all happened as far I'm concernced.

Why is this number one? Come on, people.... seriously, who votes this shit up? Vote it down ffs. This stuff is fungus for the brain.

The top four stories in the Webmash group (and the one top story in the Webmash column on the homepage) are editorally featured. This story has been on the homepage since about 9am this morning.

Stories are featured for a number of reasons, i.e. it's about a subject that's trending on sites like Google, Twitter etc, it's getting loads of votes from the current.com community, it might be getting lots of comments, it's doing the rounds on lots of news sites, it's timely etc.

It varies with every story, obviously, and not every subject is to everyone's taste. If you're interested in seeing people get involved in the stories you like on current.com and Current TV, submit as many as you like, comment away on the ones you like and redlight the ones you don't. We have a show on Current TV (Mon-Thurs nights) called Webmash and in it we try and showcase as many of our community's stories and comments as possible to cater to as many of tastes as is reasonably possible. Be great to see you stories in there too.

    • This Danyl guy doesn't seem too bothered. He tweeted that Danni didn't mean any harm and it's all smiles.

I didn't see the clip so I might be missing something here but if Danyl gave a reveal-all interview to a Sunday paper in which he was happy to talk about his sexuality, where's the harm in Danni referring to it (in a non-disparaging way)? It's not like she outed him.

As some of you have said, Danni Minogue and her sister have massive gay followings so I'd be surprised if she meant any harm.

    • WOAH! I didn't see this live and I can't believe she made him feel so uncomfortable when he was so vulnerable!

Surely she knows better than to put any credibility in what the tabloids say as well?

Not only were her comments unnecessary but just plain stupid too. They added nothing of value to the show.

    • I actually thought Danyl did a good job. Dannii's comments was a little bit OTT...

Dannii as also unimpress with Kandy Rain's performance (as well as Cheryl, but not Simon) and it something to do with the clothing... click on the link to see why

    • Totally agree her comments were completely out of order, she had no right to make any remarks of that nature, its meant to be about thier vocal and stage performance not a slur on thier personal life.
I think she thought she was being clever and funny but it backfired big time.
Yes she should apologise or might lose most of her gay fanclub , which , lets face it, make up most of it.

    • I am in complete agreement with you the comment was not required in any context, the show is about musical talent not a persons own lifestyle.
