Small Life and Godzilla

Remember the city-building simulation game SimCity? You build cities, raise taxes and occasionally call in Godzilla for some bestial destruction.
I was about 10 years old the first time I played the game. I was a God.
Later I discovered that in real life, there is nothing godlike in being a city planner. It’s probably a good thing that I can’t send in Godzilla to clean up the mistakes of my predecessors. But sometimes I still miss the days when I and my big lizard friend ruled the world.
Watching these brilliant clips from life in four German cities reminds me of why I became a city planner – And why I love it, even though I don’t get to bring Godzilla and raise the taxes.
