Switzerland: Inside the World’s Finest Health Care System

Is it any surprise that Switzerland has, arguably, the world's finest health care system? Would you expect any less from a nation where the air is crisp, the streets are clean, and the trains run on time?

Consider the achievements of the Swiss system:
Everyone is covered
Health outcomes are excellent
Health costs are reasonable
Patient satisfaction is high
What’s especially remarkable about the Swiss system is that it is admired by both liberals and conservatives. Liberals like it because it guarantees universal coverage and conservatives like it because there's no burden on business.

Although more expensive than the British and French systems, the Swiss system is much less expensive than the American system. Mortality rates are lower, waiting times are shorter, and technology is advanced. Not surpris-ingly, patient satisfaction is among the highest in Europe.

    • I just dont understand why we cant develope a system without corruption. Its frustrating being a college student not even able to afford health insurance. Whats going to happen?

    • no burden on business? In America, having people healthy and well would mean the end of a trillion dollar industry. we have hundreds of companies with millions of employees whose entire business and livelihood depends almost entirely on people being sick and keeping them that way.

    • Our politicians would increase the cost by adding their pay-back into the health care costs. There's NO WAY they'd sit still for something that would work for another country without getting financial benefits for themselves and their friends!
      And with our current system of law-loophole lawyers in congress they would know exactly how to squeeze every red cent out of it for themselves. Remember our political system is a CAREER, we keep them in the system financially benefiting for the rest of their lives......
      If we could redo the Wasington-for-life political system and throw out the Career mentality it might have a chance.

      WHY THE F CAN'T WE ALL GET OUR COLLECTIVE ASS TOGETHER AND OVERTHROW THIS FRICKIN INSURANCE INDUSTRY AND PHARMACEUTICAL AND FDA/CDC WITH ITS FAKE "NEWS" MEDIA COLLABORATION THAT IS MONOPOLIZING OUR LIVES AND DEATHS.

      I AM TRYING TO CONTACT SOME OF THESE SUCCESFUL AND ADMIRED SWISS HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES TO SEE IF I CAN GET MYSELF AND A GROUP OF AMERICAN VICTIMS INSURED IN SOME WAY UNTIL OUR PATHETIC SYSTEM GETS INTO SOME ORDER.

      I AM WITNESSING THAT MANY OF THE SCARY OBSTACLES THAT ARE KEEPING US AWAY ARE ONLY PEOPLE WITH PERSONALITY DISORDERS. LIKE PEOPLE WITH OCD..THEY ARE LIKE BARKING JUNK YARD DOGS..I LOVE ANIMALS BUT ADVOCATE KICKING THESE "DOGS" IN THE TEETH AND GETTING ON WITH OUR LIVES...DON'T BE AFRAID OF THEM...DEATH IS WORSE THAN LIVING UNDER THEIR NASTY RULE. WE CAN OVERTHROW THEM BUT WE NEED TO BE LIKE A GROUP OF ARMY ANTS AND ALL ATTACK AT ONCE TO REGAIN WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY OURS.

      I JUST WON A WAR ON PESTICIDE USE AT OUR CONDO ..THEY CAN BE SCARY AND NASTY BUT WE CAN GET TO THEM...TOGETHER... FIGHT THE FIGHT FROM WHERE YOU STAND. DON'T LET THEM MAKE YOU THINK YOU ARE CRAZY.

      BUT THE PEOPLE THAT THIS AFFECTS THE MOST, "THE WORKING CLASS" ARE JUST SIMPLY NOT EDUCATED OR ORGANISED ENOUGH TO OVERTHROW A TRILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY, INFACT THE MAJORITY OF THEM COULDN'T EVEN VOTE OBAMA.
