Breaking News! Homeland Security, FBI Raids Militias in Multiple States!

Monkey_Films
The FBI was conducting raids Saturday night at multiple locations in southeast Michigan.

Action News has learned Homeland Security and the Joint Anti-terrorism Task Force is also involved in a major operation.

Could this be the beginning of a nationwide roundup of dissenters? Have these militias threatened anyone? Is this legal? Citizen militias are a requirement of the Constitution to protect the populace from a tyrannical government. It seems that maybe the founders were right.

    • So it's ok when the government busts groups you don't like but when it's potheads they're busting then suddenly the government is a bunch of facists?

      but anyway...
"Citizen militias are a requirement of the Constitution to protect the populace from a tyrannical government."

I don't believe that is how it is worded in the constitution. More along the lines of

A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, (something these guys aren't) BEING NECESSARY TO THE SECURITY OF A FREE STATE, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

The original militia as existed at the time of the constitution had been formed originally with the purpose of local defense against Indians and enemies of England such as the French and Spanish. These modern militias are more often than not formed expressively to be anti-government.

Even then the concept of a militia was vague and open to interpretation but one thing is for sure a number of revolutionists were not overly-impressed with the performance of the militias in the war. Had we fought the British solely with militia and not an actual standing army, we'd be force to suffer the horrors of having tea and crumpets every afternoon to this very day.

George Washington had this to say on militias in Revolutionary War:

"To place any dependence upon Militia, is, assuredly, resting upon a broken staff. If I was called upon to declare upon Oath, whether the Militia have been most serviceable or hurtful upon the whole; I should subscribe to the latter."

We can probably expect the same performance from these modern types but that aside there is nothing in the Constitution that grants them any authority in any way or for their existence for that matter. Militia were for local protection and suppression of rebellions like Shay's Rebellion in the years after the Revolutionary War.

When those of the Founding Fathers who were afraid of a standing army and strong central government were thinking of militia they were thinking of those which were controlled by the States not a privately organized militia for its own purposes which amounts to a private army. This is what these modern-day militias are. Neither side of the original debate which revolve around State vs Federal government back then would have looked on these militias favorably and probably would have called up the militia to disperse them.

In addition militias of the Found Father Era were by law of the time subject to being called up the President himself. So if Obama wanted to, he could enact those old Founding Father Militia Laws and call up these militia folks and have them pull security duty at airports.

    • This is from the militia's own website. I don't care if you agree with them or if you hate Christians. Do one thing...tell me what is so dangerous about this?

      DOCTRINE OF THE HUTAREE

The Doctrine of the Hutaree is based on faith and most of all the testimony of Jesus. Hebrews 11:1, ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for, The Evidence of things not yet seen.’

Jesus spoke of the ten virgins in Matthew 25: 1-12. The wise ones took enough oil to last the whole night, just in case the bridegroom was late. The foolish ones took not enough oil to last the whole night and figured that the bridegroom would arrive earlier than he did.

These bridegrooms represent the Christian church of today. The oil, just as Jesus explained, represented faith. If you read the story right, you find out that the people with enough faith to last as long as it might take are the wise ones. They know and believe in the testimony of Christ, even through the darkest and most doubtful of times. This day is soon.

The foolish ones are the ones who expect Christ to arrive too soon. They have brought for themselves only enough oil to last for a short time, having not enough faith to last through the darkest hours. When the time comes for those without enough faith, they will fall to the Anti-Christ’s doctrine. And it will make perfect sense to the whole world; even the elect.

We all as Christians should stand firm in Christ and believe in him until our uttermost end. The testimony must by no means pass away and we must spread the word believing in Christ’s words, even during the end times.

Now when that hour Christ arrives the foolish ones would have already left their waiting mark, their place in Christ. Then when he comes over, trumpets blowing, and clouds flowing, the wise ones will come to him in the clouds and into heaven. The foolish will then remember what they were ‘supposed to do’ and cry out loud to God and knock on heaven’s door. But read and you’ll find that it says that when the door is shut no one enters afterwards. They will knock and he will say, “Away with you, for I know you not.

I Peter 5:11, ‘And this is the Testimony, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.’

Believe in this word and spread it to all you can. Stand, stay and pray for the defense of the word. For we live by faith and cannot see nor understand what we believe, entirely, but nevertheless the reward is worth it in the end.

ETERNAL LIFE IS IN JESUS, AMEN.

Or this joke about the Mark of the Beast...ooooh, scary stuff here, lmao.

    • The second amendment works both ways. These fruity "minutemen" get to play soldier, and I get to defend myself and my family from them and all their violent mummery.

Also, if you're planning on overthrowing the government, don't act surprised when they arrest you. You may be actually overthrowing a tyrannical government, but if you're actually doing that, they're probably going to fight back.
The constitution does provide an avenue for the people to keep the government in check with force, but the catch is: that option leads to bloodshed. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Instead you lambaste all who disagree with you as Idiots for not taking your word or not digging deep enough or what ever other excuse you have for having no real evidence your self, BTW Right wing blogs do not equal evidence I can write all kinds of science fiction that sounds way possible but is not at all true. No I think the most Idiotic thing any one here on this site or elsewhere could do is take your unsubstantiated word or so called evidence as credible in the least, That surely would identify that person as a blind follower who had not the intelligence to discern anything as fact. it was funny to me that you ask If I where a child because that's precisely what it would take for me to believe you in the slightest. and the Mexican comment just reminds us of your racist bigoted tendencies. I am Native American and I have a great fondness for my half Indian brothers and sisters to our south and our north for that mater. frankly if you don't like what the descendants of the indigenous people of this land have made her now why don't you go back to you homeland and see if they will believe anything you say either.

I am 75% Native American, Cherokee with my father's parents being 100% each so going 'back' to my country would be impossible since the white man has been doing domestic terrorism on my family since 1497. Wow, did you blah, blah blah or what? That always happens after a few attempts at debunking me fails. I asked if you were a child because your logic is still in its infantile stages and you believe authority like a kid in awe of a cop. As far as who I am. Duh? I sign my name to the posts that I actually wrote myself. I also post the name of a press organization I work for. I have a brother on the site that posts under an organization name that I co-founded with him. We have admitted this and talked about it on the site. I am all over the internet in blogs and on videos, have posted stories giving great detail about my life including my PO Box and phone number right here on Current. These large clues combined with hundreds of small ones would have been easier to research and taken less time than that clueless hissy fit you just pitched all in black and white for all to see. Every war fought in the name of Christ has been utterly unholy, contradicting and undermining everything His Word teaches.” John MacArthur

“And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. "

    • What is the allure of a militia?

Outside of a militia (or the Crips, or the Bloods, or Al-Qaeda!) you're just a lowly person of no importance and no power.

But once you join a militia (or the Crips, or the Bloods or Al-Qaeda) and you have a GUN and a UNIFORM and a EPIC MYTHOLOGY -- then you're a super hero.

The irony of all of this is that these men are succumbing to the exact same psychology that motivates anyone who joins a gang. They want to feel special. They want to feel powerful. Once you join an anti-government Christian militia you're no longer some twice-divorced loser working at Burger King....you're a super patriot engaged in an epic battle between good and evil and the fate of the world rests in your godly hands!

As the economic crisis drags on we're going to see more and more under-employed men who feel powerless in their daily lives joining these groups, I fear.

It's the same reason broke, aimless, and disillusioned young men join Al-Qaeda.

I mean, ever notice how ultra-successful millionaires with super model wives never become suicide bombers, gang members or join Christian militias?

The same uptick in militas occured during the last economic downturn.

Extremism is a poor man's disease.

But When religious zealots create a militia in preparation for an event that has NO DATE!, it's obvious either they're paranoid, or lying. It's a form of RELIGIOUS EXTREMEISM. When we leave religion out of it, say if I wanted to form a militia for Greenville, SC - With the appropriate authority from the local goverment, we should be able to do that...no contest.

Philosophers say there multiple realities. I expect you developed yours around the time when you were "arrested 26 times over 15 years by the local police" as you earlier reported about yourself.
Was it later that you started claiming Timothy McVeigh, rather than being a right-wing anti-government fanatic, was actually a CIA sent to discredit the right-wing by blowing up a government building full of men women and children? I expect if Tim McVeigh were around today he'd be itching to pay a call on you for defaming him so.
And yes, as anyone can Google, Anne Frank's name is Annelies Marie "Anne" Frank. (Not Franke ) Your claim that her family had an earlier spelling variation isn't found and frankly, doesn't cut must water in any regard to the how her heirs and the world know her.
I suspect that, this could be like the incident where you magically converted the semi-literate McCain supporter who pretended to have her self attacked during the campaign in your mind to an Obama supporter.

      From NBC's Pete Williams
Federal prosecutors say members of a Michigan-based militia planned to kill a local policeman -- and then attack the law enforcement officers who gathered in Michigan for the funeral.

According to court documents, the plan was to attack law enforcement vehicles during a funeral procession with homemade bombs.

Prosecutors say one of the militia members downloaded information about how to build the devices from the Internet and emailed diagrams of them to someone he believed was capable of making them. The militia member directed his son and others to begin gathering the materials requires to make them.

Justice Department officials say that nine people -- six from Michigan, two from Ohio, and one from Indiana -- have been charged in what they say was this plot to attack local police.

It's clear that the FBI has had this group under close watch for months, and had the capacity to shut it down whenever investigators believed it was planning to go operational, which is just what happened over the weekend.

"Prosecutors say one of the militia members downloaded information about how to build the devices from the Internet and emailed diagrams of them to someone he believed was capable of making them."

if this is like most of these types of cases, that 'someone' was probably FBI and the plot probably originated with him. they also probably provided financial/material assistance for the plot. that's just a guess based on past stories like this. i guess we'll see.

    • the right of the american people is to stand up against the government when they believe they are failing. we've had that right taken from us. this should be a little moment of clarity for you all.

if these dingle berries arrested didn't have the proper paperwork for their guns, they're retarded, fine, they broke the law. i'll reserve judgement until the story unfolds with more details.

and i'd be interested in seeing what threats were made, as i've read 3 articles on this story and 2 of them say the group mainly practices shooting and survivalist techniques alongside the SMVM (souther michigan volunteer militia)

What do you do when the other side won't accept democracy...

Is it an unchangeable truism that a Militia is necessary to the security of a free state? In other words, are minute-men still needed in downtown Philly? Don't we have the best equipped all volunteer military available to provide our security? Dont forget about local national guard units if you want your state rights and militia fix. It is the duty of any executive officer (including the non-commisioned ones) to disregard/resist unlawful orders posed by superior officers.

These arent killing machines set out against our own people, they're FBI agents NECESSARILY SECURING the state by taking weapons from fringe radicals.
I dont think these crazies are what the framers meant when they referred to the "people" whose right it is to keep and bear arms. It's an organization whose members have minced their allegiance to the free state in order to pursue harmful ends against it. I dont think anyone should be defending these guys.

They're a stupid militant Christian terrorist cell. Apparently not even the OTHER militia groups in the region like them very much. The idiots were probably dealing in drugs or making chemical weapons, you can never tell with borderline groups like that. It's a mixture of organised crime and terrorism.

Hey, hombre, majority rules only applies in a fascist society or a Democracy. Take your ass back to Chile if you want that. We live in a Republic where everyone has a right and if you don't like that, you are teetering on treason and that's the death penalty in this Constitutional Republic last time I checked.

Oh, and by the way, I'm not a Republican, I don't buy into that elephant/jackass stuff. I screamed and cussed and fought and rallied and stood on picket lines over the Patriot Act and just about everything else Bush did. Corruption and fascism exist on both sides of the aisle, you're just rooting for the fascist in power and somehow feel empowered to help turn this country into a fascist Democracy all the while thinking you're somehow doing good and making 'change'. Woo hoo, you go boy, take away your own rights and shred the Constitution because somebody else doesn't like it. Did you get your kicks, yet? Well, guess what soon you will also feel the wrath of Democracy at your throat and you'll be looking in the phone book for the nearest militia to join.

Uhhhhh???? They were fighting for independence from the tyrannical king of Britain. They didn't like monarchy so they created a government for the people by the people. MAYBE the founders were right? I would say YES the FOUNDERS WERE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, CUS MONARCHY IS BULLSHIT!

So long live the Wonderful American Government that is FOR THE PEOPLE voted BY THE PEOPLE, JUST AS THE FOUNDERS INTENDED.

See what I did there? Because you were trying to infer the Founders hated the American government WHICH THEY CREATED. hahahah which is fucking retarded to even postulate.

    • These people are so stupid... I bet they think that they have a Constitutional right to their militias, but a militia is NOT a group of crazies wanting to overthrow the USA. Instead, a militia is:

"...commonly used today to refer to a military force composed of ordinary citizens to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency."

      Silly radicals.

They do have a Constitutional right to these militias. I mean it is in the Constitution written just as copied below, we used to read it back in my day, Randall.

(Article I, section 8 of the U.S. Constitution; Title 10, U.S. Code, Section 311(a)), court precedents, and legal and historical interpretation, that all able-bodied persons, explicitly those between the ages of 17 and 45, are members of the Federal unorganized militia, except members of the organized state guards (for example, State Defense Forces which exist in about two dozen states), the National Guards of the various states (which also serve as a part of the National Guard of the United States, a military reserve subject to nationalization by the President of the United States), and certain government officials. An "organized citizen militia" must be created under the constitution itself and/or the laws of a state.

Title 10, U.S.C., clearly affirms the existence of the citizen militia; it is little changed since the original Militia Act of 1792 (except for the addition in this century of recognition of the third type of militia, the Federally supported National Guard, in addition to the enrolled and unenrolled militia).

In America you win jack shit. They are innocent right now until the information is proven false and then they'll be innocent forever. If history is any indicator this is a false flag and the information has been fabricated. Statistically speaking it almost always is in an FBI situation like this. Do some research on the homegrown 'terror cells' over the past few years that got rounded up. All have been let go because either the agent provocateur working within the group was the one doing the bad stuff or the whole thing was a setup done at politically convenient times.

    • "Citizen militias are a requirement of the Constitution to protect the populace from a tyrannical government."

Dear Dipshit, the Constitution does NOT 'require' militias, nor does it wholeheartedly legalize terrorist groups, aka these guys planning an 'attack' against the 'tyrannical government' as you put it. NOR does the Constitution EVER say anything about protecting people from a tyrannical government. Just because you inferred that doesn't mean jack shit.

It says and I quote "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Where in that does it say "to protect it's people from a tyrannical government"? Where in that does it say stockpiling weapons for an attack AGAINST the state is legal? I believe it said to 'protect the state' did it not? Just because you think it say "protect the state from itself" doesn't mean that's what it said or what it's writers were inferring. TJ maybe but he was buckshit crazy...

And it says 'necessary', not 'required'. Nor does it clarify the difference between a private militia or a government one. Meaning the Homeland Security agents arresting them are in fact a 'security & protectorate of the state' militia mentioned above.

In the future don't try to make up parts of the Constitution you WANT to be in the Constitution.

Just a a couple points on the second amendment " A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. First the key word in the first part of the sentence up to the first coma denoting a supporting qualification is the word regulated this says immediately that it falls with in the right of the state and by extension the federal government in the authority of the commander in chief as president over the formation and organization and use of all militias. Second after the coma denoting the end of the qualifying sentence is a separate statement as I believe was correctly interpreted by the SCOTUS in over turning of the anti-open-carry law in D.C. and that the final shall not be infringed applies to both statements. Its my contention that the Militia statements are there to allow for conscription into militias in the case of invitation. but that's just my layman interpretation of English sentence structure.

Where does it put a limit on weapons? We have an Army that exists to protect us from outside attacks, gee whom do you think the militia is for? Couldn't make that connection? It states that if the government is taken over by anyone illegally or forming another government the people have the right to use whatever means to re-take their country. I'm not going to quote it directly too tired, but this is an outright attack because they were Christians with guns, nothing more. This will lead to an infringement on everyone's rights and just as many times in the past those like you won't have to wait long to live, or die, to regret it.

the key part here is: "...being necessary to the security of a FREE state." it could certainly be inferred by these words to mean protection from a tyrannical govt. also, if you read the writings of the founders there is absolutely no doubt that is what they were trying to say.

The founding fathers were in agreement that the monarchy of England was a tyrannical government and to assure their protection from being invaded by England they provided for militias.

I hardly think a terrorist group threatening the federal government is considered 'security to a free state'. But that's just me.

If the founding fathers were seeking to overthrow 'the state' they created then what's the point of creating it in the first place? Defending fundamentalists like these Klu Klux Klan wannabes is ridiculous. If you think the government of this country is tyrannical VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS THE FUCKING POINT, THATS WHY IT WAS MADE THAT WAY! SO THAT NO PERSON WOULD EVER HAVE ABSOLUTE CONTROL OVER THE COUNTRY FOR THEIR WHOLE LIFE AS A MONARCH.

The founding fathers hardly spoke with one voice and Thomas Jefferson was a fucking psycho. Yes, he wanted a French like Revolution every few decades. He seems to be the only founding father anyone seems to remember anymore.

This force is none other than our version of the SS. The only mission this civilian army corps has is to spy on Americans and report dissent. Does that sound like good health care to you? This isn't about racism, socialism, health care, it's about a covert attempt by the banks to overthrow the government, the well informed see this, those under Obama's spell do not. To be fair this whole thing was started with George W. and conveniently the hard parts at the finish are done by an African American CIA plant so that any dissent could be labeled as racism. Read the damn Health Care bill before talking about things you know nothing about. Ignorance pisses me off, people, get informed for Pete's sake.
