RFK: Mindless menace of violence speech still relevant 42 years after his assassination

JanforGore
Forty two years ago a little after midnight on June 5, Robert Kennedy was assassinated as he left the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after his speech upon winning the California presidential primary. In commemoration of the day when this country lost yet another leader who could have changed the course of history for the better, this is RFK's speech on violence. How sad and ironic that it was through this very violence that he lost his own life. It is even sadder as we look 42 years later at our country, as violence and hatred still pervade much of our landscape.

    • RFK's funeral train, June 8, 1968. I remember watching this and crying. I was so young and full of hope, and then that hope was shattered little by little after seeing good men like RFK gunned down at a time when we needed his vision the most. And this is not about Democrat or Republican to me. This is about needing Americans who have such a vision that look beyond skin color and standing and see the possibilities of a world where what matters most are not our differences but our commonalities. RIP RFK.
