On Monday, June 7, the war in Afghanistan became the longest war in U.S. history. In response, Brave New Foundation and our partners at TrueMajority/USAction asked you to help us send a strong message that politicians would hear, calling for a withdrawal from that country to be completed no later than December 2011.
Thanks to you, we hit our fundraising goal in just a few hours!
Because of your strong response, a full-page ad in the Capitol Hill newspaper Politico will remind policy-makers of President Obama’s promise to begin a withdrawal no later than July 2011, while also demanding the withdrawal be complete by December 2011.
This ad sends a message that we are tired of watching hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives being wasted on a war that’s not making us safer. It’s a warning to elected officials: "We want this war to end, and we will hold you accountable for ending it."
