I've seen a lot of demonstrations in the name of this woman where I live, and there are petitions going all around the city. On Saturday, I saw a display set up in one of the busiest areas featuring a very large picture of the condemned woman and also many other pictures in memory of Iranian activists that have already been executed. It's really great to see that people are coming together at last to stop this disgusting cruelty.
This is a terrible, barbaric way of life that must be eradicated! I really hope that this woman and other people condemned to this fate can be saved.

If you want to see the Religion of Peace at work, rent The Stoning of Soraya M, an adaptation of a non-fiction book written by French-Iranian journalist Freidoune Sahebjam. It gives a spine-chilling look into the lives of Muslim women. Never before have I seen anything so horrible. Religion of peace, my eye.

Kinda like all the burning to death and torturing that was done in the name of Christianity back in the time of the inquisition. The Salem witch trials also come to mind.

That was back then, irrelevant........
with all the technology and communications today.......
you'd think that learning about the world would make one less of barbarism.we are talking about modern times.
Can you name a western country with the same type of regime like that of Iran now?

Wow, the silence is deafening. In my opinion, all the Muslim controlled countries of the middle east are about the same. Some have more money than others (oil), but when you get right down to it, they follow a savage religion where women are second or even third class citizens, Allah put them there to breed, and that's about it.

No government is legitimate that treats any human being as a human sacrifice to its morality, no matter the purported basis of said morality. "Government" implies one has some pretense to civilization.
"Civilization" is a human agreement that human will not prey on human. The government that intends to lash and stone this woman to death is no government.
It is, instead, a savage and angry mob of monsters. Any genuinely civilized human being or collection of such persons has arguable warrant to stop them.

That's not all... Thanks to the 'Times' newspaper for showing a photo of her, she will be lashed 99 times. THEN stoned to death.

Can these humans even LEAVE their home country?!?!??! NO!
One of my closest friends, who is Iranian (born in Tehran) has been trying to get back INTO her birth country for the last two years to adopt one or two little children. Because she has performed here, in the U.S.A., she risks being arrested as soon as she disembarks from the transcontinental plane. And that's trying to get back INTO the country, damnit... to do a good thing.
Oh, and she doesn't "INSIST on being Muslim," either. She simply is NOT Muslim. Where'd you get the concept that women -- in particular? -- choose to be Muslim? And how do you, therefore, explain the several million women who practice Judaism? And THEY can't leave Iran, EITHER.

They can't... they just can't. They've tried, and many have "disappeared," or at least gone into a prison you'd never want to see even the exterior of, and those lashings are real.
Through my friendship with these three sisters (one of whom is my closest friend [and also an ethical vegan, by the way]), along with their family members and friends, I've learned so much.
If women even managed to organize enough to "attack" their government, they'd be executed on the spot... and yes, with cameras rolling, so the rest of the country's people will know what will happen when there's an uprising.

What about the Muslim women in this country? Muslims have immigrated to europe and now demand their own rules and Sharia law for themselves. This, too is happening on a smaller scale right here in cities with large Muslim populations. It has nothing to do with not being allowed to immigrate. Even when they immigrate they live the same way.

lvp, why did you post this now? You are aware of the fact that this beautiful woman has been facing her stoning for quite some months, am I correct? In fact, she very recently was re-sentenced to be lashed 99 times. Many people die from the lashings. Then, AFTER the public lashing, they're still intending to have a public stoning.

That is horrible. The more this is publicized the more people will people will voice their opposition to this horrible manner of punishment.
The more pressure that is put on the communities that do this, the less it will hopefully be done.
