LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police say they’ve broken up a cockfighting ring operation that was being held in the backyard of a Pacoima home.
Police seized dozens of bloody roosters from the home, where they were being conditioned and bred to fight to the death.
Suspects were taken into custody, but their identities were not released.
The seized roosters were bloody and badly injured, some with blades attached to their claws. All the roosters seized were past rehabilitation and had to be euthanized, CBS 2/KCAL 9’s Melissa Maynarich reported.
Neighbors say they’ve heard the sounds of roosters dying from behind the home for years.

The case now goes to the city attorney’s office, where it will be decided whether criminal charges will be filed.

I guess I don't see too much wrong with it, but they shouldn't attach the blades. Cocks fight in nature, so how is it any different from watching cocks fighting or a lion and antilope on the Discovery Channel? They should eat the meat too, otherwise it is just wasteful.

i used to work in a knife shop before the economy tanked (thanks bush) and one day some asshole came in with a bunch of those blades they attach to the roosters' feet, and asked us if we could sharpen them. we told him to get the fuck out of the store and dont come back, then set the in house sheriffs on them.

They should have just come to Oklahoma, it's still legal here....
We actually were the last state to ban cockfighting in 2002 or 03 and then we passed an additional laws saying it was only banned in blank blank and blank counties. Aka the only places they didn't have any cockfighting before the original law.
Oklahoma was also the last state to legalize tattooing in 2002. Correlation?

I am just now watching KCBS/L.A. News (2) that all 60 cockfighting roosters were killed today, as Animal Control said none of them could be “rehabilitated.”

What upsets me almost as much as the fact that they all “HAD” to be euthanized, is that neighbors knew about this many years, and complained only because of the two types of noise:
