They didnt get the memo…..

Now that the initial stages of the Republican Presidential Primary has started, they are bringing out the old trump card of hate. Recently Republican Representative Peter King, convened convened hearings designed to drum up fear and hatred of muslims. All he was successful at was stoking the fire of islamophobia(lots of phobias in the right), and showing everyone what a great representative Keith Ellison is.
Recently, the fear was on display at Conservative Principles(sorry for the oxymoron) Conference in Iowa, where Herman cain won the presidential straw poll. Here is his winning speech, where he is asked whether he would be willing to appoint a Muslim as a Cabinet officer or judge(not that there is a high probability of that happening).
“No. I will not,” he said. “And here’s why: There’s this creeping attempt — there’s this attempt to gradually ease Sharia law and the Muslim faith into our government.” According to Cain, many American Muslims “are trying to force their Sharia law onto the rest of us.”

The conspiratorial fear mongering of Right Wing Conservatives defys all logic. And still they get good press. Here's a little thing I came up with: The differences between Sharia law and Biblical law are rather similiar if you ask me. Which would you choose to be stoned under?

The Tea Party/Republicans always use issues that incite emotions like, fear, hate, anger, etc, to appeal to a certain group of Americans that are easily influenced primarily by emotions..Their is no independent thinking among Tea Party/Republicans, they all spout the same message and agree on the same policies..There is a reason that most Blacks, and other Minorities don't identify with the Tea party/Republicans...To say that their is no racism among Tea Party/Republicans is to be in denial..Most Republicans don't believe in half of the crap that they are selling, only the idiots that are naive/stupid enough to buy it ..They have perfected the art of " telling them what they want to hear ".................

You're right. Except for a few like Palin and Bauchman (sp?) the Republican candidates and Congressmen are not stupid. They know exactly what they are doing. I hate to use this word but I've come to the conclusion that these people are evil. They have no shame and they don't care who they hurt. Because of this they are very dangerous to our society.

Actually the Tea party when it first started had it right. It was filled with both reps, dems, indys not sponsored or financed by anyone and was focused on fiscal responsibility of the government and more libertarian ideas when it comes to foreign policies. There was little if any social issues other than getting people off the government tit and back on their own two feet.
As I have watched this party progress I have seen two things both of which are very disturbing.
The first and probably most damaging of course was the lampooning, demonizing and out right lying about the party by the very biased and condescending liberal press. The first thing they did was pull the race card and tried to find anything that suggested racism where none existed. Not only that but they refused to show or talk to any people of color at the rallies when there of course were. Were the percentages high? No, there were small numbers but they were there.
Next they went and found any idiots they could and only held them up as real party members. As with any crowd or political rally there is always a few idiots around for easy pickings, the press had a hay day! Yet they refused to show other rallies where real racism is being touted by liberals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3ctO7fdrcc&feature=player_embedded
The other thing that has happened to the party was the republicans trying to usurp the party and opportunists like Sarah Palin jumping on the Tea party band wagon where they really didn't belong. At first, radio hosts and the republican party thought the Tea Party was a joke and disregarded them as a fluke and far too libertarian for their tastes. As time progressed more and more slimy entrenched politicians recognized that the party might have power and jumped on board as did the radio hosts. Then came the social issue entrenched ideologues along with Palin which started to turn the stomachs of the original tea party supporters.
Once Palin was embraced and or connected to the party the press really ramped up the ignorant racist cards and have been playing it ever since. However, the real out come thus far was the biggest sweep of conservatives in elections across the entire spectrum in almost 70 years. This in turn enraged liberals even more and their attacks are truly uncivilized. Just look at the graphic that is leading this thread. Really a KKK hood? So much for stopping the toxic rhetoric.
Will it actually become a real legitimate third party or will the republicans pull the eminent domain card and suck up the party? I think the republicans are as much an opportunist as much as the democrats and the press are fraudulently going to pull the ignorant hate and race cards against them.
Thus again, no real winners and a grass roots effort will most likely fail.

wayseeker, I just don't understand what the Tea Party movement's principles are; seems their "go" lines are reduced government until it concerns a uterus; less regulation when it concerns "too big to fail" banks, hedge funds and market speculators; and finally reduce government spending only applies to a non-military discretionary spending; I thought all spending by the government was discretionary {by its very nature}; how many redundant agencies, equipment and contractors are being used anyway? I thought discretionary meant choice.

The Tea Party people are being taken for a ride by powerful Republicans such as the Coche (sp?) Brothers who are privately funding Tea Party activities. These big money behind the scene supporters want to subdue Obama, Labor Unions and the middle class by using the Tea Party, Republican State Governors, and Fox media among others too disrupt the Democratic process and spread fear through lies and creating doubts about Obama. The very existence of the middle class is in serious danger of being controlled by Corporate interests fueled by fanatical ultra conservative Republicans. There's a fight to be fought and our only hope is for liberals and Democrats to wake up to fight it like Media Matters is attempting to do.

Are the Tea Party movement principals: smaller government, less regulations and reduce deficit spending?, If so, why wasn't these concerns brought up when the budget was balanced between 1996-2000? When did the deficit spending in the US begin in the past 20 years? How and when was it resolved during the past 20 years? Also was Viet Nam "on the books"?

They originally called themselves teabaggers. It wasn't until they were getting laughed at that they bothered to google the term. Then, and only then, did they distant themselves from "teabaggers". While i was working one day i met a young man standing in front of a convenience store in flagstaff arizona. he said he had enlisted in the army and would get a 40 thousand dollar bonus to start his life with after he got out in 4 years. He told me that the recruiter showed him videos and told him it was a war between christianity and islam. I told him there was no such war between religions and that the recruiter was lieing at him. i also told him dont get killed or injured.because if he did not fullfill his 4 year contract they will take his 40 k bonus back from him or his family. i asked him to reconsider his enlistment. but he said he was right then waiting for the recruiter to pick him up and take him to the airport. sure enough the recruiters car pulled in real fast .the kid got in and there was no opportunity to say any more to this one. i was a foolish 17 years when i enlisted in us marines . I often wonder how this one or any other has been affected by the hate mongers who care nothing about our enlisted men and push filthy lies on our young to get a paychech. This hate crap was all over the military during the bush JR years. That resulted in the massace in texas and other blowback incidents. Gingrinch and other sellout FOX christian hate mongers are guilty of all these deaths just as much as the bush crime family and any other guilty parties. If there is a hell these bastards should go there right now and be with thier master . the one with the horns and tail.

First of all, I don't think that the 99% of Congress, working for pro-Israeli Zionist interests according to former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, are going to allow Sharia Law and Muslim faith to be eased into our government.
