Cindylou12:
Nothing is "wrong" with the papa eagle (that's the father you're watching right now).
I take care of rescue birds sometimes, and they all do that. Now that the eaglets are older, both mama and papa can take better care of themselves, and that's what they're both doing. It's part of grooming.
Just sit and watch longer, and you'll see that the babies are starting to shake their heads more, as well. In fact, I was watching Eaglet #2 mimicking his mother a bit earlier today.
Don't worry so much -- all's going quite well, as it has all along.
And if you're still concerned, just write to the organization that is providing this for all of us. THEY'RE the experts.

Thanks for the info. I wish the 'experts' would post from time to time tha it going good and this is what we should expect.... Do you know when they will start to fly. My cousin tells me that the parents just push them out of the nest and on the way down they learn to fly. Pls say that's not true. It sounds so dangerous to do it like that.

I just love watching them growing, and growing in their feathers, and losing more and more of that down.
This has been such a wonderful adventure for everyone who checks in on "our" baby eaglets now and then. The parents have done such a good job, haven't they?
And just wait 'til their flight feathers are fully grown in! Fun, fun, fun!

OSU, that is what I meant by repositioning, zooming out a little so that the birds heads were in frame, that's all. I'm sure there is a reason for this particular angle as everything is done for a reason. It just cuts off the momma's head and sometimes the babies too.

Did you ever think that the camera was positioned before the eagles took the nest this year. That they cannot move the camera when large eagles could come back and attack them. And that the camera only zooms in and out, not actually getting repositioned. Just enjoy what you can see. I am :)

maybe you just started watching recently but there actually is a camera angle or zoom or whatever which allows you to see the eagles much, much better. im just hoping they'll change it back. and they have moved the cameras around while the eagles were there before and they didn't do anything so i'd probably be okay to move them again.

Just wondering now. Someone said that you can see at night because of the infra red. But as far as I remember the infrared goes by body temperature, meaning that they eagle and eagles would be easier to see at night but not the nest. With this set up the nest is light at night too so my guess would be that someone has a spotlight on these poor creatures every night.

It's an active infrared camera. They are shining an infrared light (invisible to the birds) on them and the camera detects the reflected light. It's not the same type of camera as the ones that detect heat.

Cindylou12:
The baby's "flopping over" because she's the youngest -- she hatched only late yesterday, so she's the smallest. The other two were "flopping" around like that their first couple of days, too.
Your question about the mother knowing who's who.... well, if you had three children, you'd surely be able to tell them apart (even if they were identical triplets). The mother is keenly aware of whom she's fed, and who still needs to be fed. And again, the youngest baby (not even one entire day old) doesn't need as much food as the other two... YET.
The father feeds them, as well, and he can tell them apart. Both parents participate in the feeding, and it's always reassuring when I see that other species do that.
I'm so glad you're enjoying this whole experience. When one of the parents is actually fast asleep, try reading up more on the life cycles of eagles, or birds in general. Your best education, though, is doing what you're doing... and the REST of us are doing, too! Watch, watch, watch!

Sweet friend, your updates are great. I'm sort of glad I missed the two parts that were seemingly scariest.
Even when the older baby did make it onto the "hard" outer nest, I suppose you felt confident the mommy knew what was going on.
The "survival of the fittest" also would have scared me to pieces, but again, a great protective mommy!
Do carry on with your fantastic updates. I'm sure EVERYONE really appreciates your info.
