Congress "in session" for 20 Seconds today, so GOP can block Obama appointments [Video]

jeffissleeping
House Speaker John Boehner is absolutely "outraged" that President Obama appointed Richard Cordray while the Congress was in "session."

“This is an extraordinary and entirely unprecedented power grab by President Obama that defies centuries of practice and the legal advice of his own Justice Department," Boehner said. "The precedent that would be set by this cavalier action would have a devastating effect on the checks and balances that are enshrined in our Constitution."

Where's the catch?

Well, there's a big one. The House Republicans have "gavelled-in" a session of Congress like this every few days in order to claim that they were never in recess.

You see, if Congress doesn't meet for up to 10 days, President Obama can make recess appointments much like he has tried with Richard Cordray, head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They have MANDATED that Congress will not bring up any legislative business during these fake sessions.

This morning, Speaker Pro Tempore Jeff Denham, under orders from Speaker Boehner, refused to allow Assistant Democratic Leader James E. Clyburn to speak on the floor and call for the payroll tax cut conference committee to get to work. And, actually cut Mr. Clyburn's microphone in the process.

Thus, Speaker Boehner continues his fake outrage while using dodgy and deceitful House practices in order to cut the President off at the knees and gum up the legislative process.

And people wonder why Congress' approval is in the single-digits?

    • Let's use the NDAA to indefinitely detain this reptard pondscum -- they are holding this country and US hostage; if that doesn't qualify as terrorism I don't know what does!

    • They've been playing this petty game since the beginning of his term. This is why I get so pissed off when liberals say... Obama's not doing anything!Well, duh.. when you've got a Congress willing to obstruct in every way they can im surprised he's accomplished anything at all.
