He had supporters in the neighborhood today. Young guy... Marine... Ron Paul hoodie (seriously)... knocking on doors. Haven't seen any other candidates with people on the street.

Oh I agree. I've become very disillusioned with organized religion. I was just making the point that these religious zealots think their religion is the only true religion and everyone else is a heretic.

And it's too bad...South Carolina is a beautiful charming place. But if you are any type of minority they smile in your face while plunging the knife in your back.

My first trip down south in 1962 was a real eye-opener for me. Before that I had never been south of Washington DC. When we stopped at a gas station and went to use the restroom I was shocked to see the signs that said "for Whites Only" on the doors of the restrooms and the drinking fountain. I agree that the countryside is beautiful but it makes me wonder how can people who live in such a beautiful area be so cruel to others, especially minorities?

By the way, if you haven't seen the movie "The Help" yet I highly recommend it. It takes place in the early 60s just before the civil rights movement.

Yeah he does. And I haven't kicked him under the bus yet. I still have this odd thing in my head that perhaps, just perhaps, we progressives might find some common ground with him that might have some impact in 2016. So far he is not immersed in BigMoney so that's a plus. Still, there's the states rights/racist business that won't go away.
For now he's just a major pain for the GOP. Works for me. He'll go away sooner or later. It's just a matter of what it's gonna cost the GOP to make him go away. I'm thinking it will be at least a back room guarantee of a Senate chair on a major committee for son Rand.
