    • He's trying what Perry did in Texas. Did he ever release his taxes during the gubernatorial election? This is on a national scale and his father was among the first to do so. He will look extremely bad if he hedges further about his taxes.

Yeah, the DNC rips Romney for paying all his taxes as the law requires yet is silent on the tax evasion of Charlie Rangel and the non payment of taxes due by our Sec. of Treasury. I can see that the DNC rewards and support tax evaders yet attacks successful people who pay their fair share as required by law. Golly, why don't I support THAT party??? No policy positions that enhance this country merely class warfare, envy and hatred directed at anyone who is successful. As sad bunch indeed.

    • How do we know he is hiding anything? From what I have read on this subject he has paid all the taxes he was supposed to even on the Cayman Islands money, holdings which are not illegal in and of themselves but only if used to evade taxes and there has been no information that this is the case. Given the amount of assets and income he has I would bet the mortgage that his return has been well scrutinized by the IRS as well as the CPA who does his taxes. There is no information that he owes back taxes just a lot of supposition that he has not paid enough tax, something that no one can substantiate. If those here who are finding Romneys tax status offensive really want to have something to talk about, and gain some credibility that it is the tax that is the issue and not some moronic political agenda, how about we beat up on our Secretary of the Treasury who would still owe the 32K he didn't pay unless he got his current job. Perhaps we should examine Charlie Rangel and his ethics violations regarding HIS tax evasion.
I really think the whiners about this don't really know what they are talking about. The only thing will be able to tell from Mitts 1040 will be income and tax paid. If he evaded paying tax it would not appear on the return. You would have to audit his books to find that one out. Whatever he gets a 1099 or W2 on WILL BE on the return along with the proper taxes. What's the problem???

    • My family has a no religion, no politics policy. Watching my dad have a stroke upsets my mom. A while ago I had an occasion to talk to a few other "voters" . Each convinced his man was the one they are going to vote for. As a sarcastic woman of a cut them off at the knees type I usually keep my mouth shut, but this was too good to pass up. I quite nicely asked if they had watched "a" debate? Only one mind you. Both looked at me like deer in headlights and kinda shrugged. OK. What is your guy about I asked. How would they handle the economy for instance? All I saw was blind faith, oh my. Now you see why I keep my mouth shut and take my blood pressure pills. I could talk for hours and never make a dent... God bless those that can!

I think that's part of the reason many of us are here...we experience those same reactions when talking with the uninformed-and-proud-of-it-neandrathal-type-righty-tighty-wingnut-assholes...and here at least we have a chance to interact with people who for the most part are informed and lucid...and though we may not always agree, we generally respect thoughtful differnces in others...

    • Is this unique to Romney? Or is it just that he's the only slime-ball on the Republican Primary stage that's made enough money to need a tax shelter. Are we to believe the other candidates wouldn't do the same thing if they needed to?

Of course not, but he is the one that thinks all this talk is meant to divide a "united" America and he is really pissed...besides, the other clowns don't have anywhere near as much as he has...
