A Republican lawmaker in Arizona is hoping his state creates a holiday celebrating caucasian people.
According to CBS affiliate in Phoenix, state Rep. Cecil Ash made his request felt on the Arizona House floor this week during a discussion about Latino Americans in Arizona.
After Rep. Richard Miranda suggested that the state should have a Latino American day, Ash made his statement.
“I’m supportive of this proposition,” he said. “I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you’ll have a day for us.”
The comment produced some laughs from his fellow lawmakers who thought Ash was being facetious. However, he revealed later that he was not joking.
“Yes, I think it was appropriate,” he said. “It was appropriate for the mood that was in the House and I think that if and when the Caucasian population becomes a minority, they may want to celebrate the accomplishments and the contributions of the Caucasian population the same way.”

"I took the time to edit this post as it originally said 'White People' no where in the interview or his words was that said!!!" The young lady that was spoken to on the street said 'Yes' they have their Cinco de Mayo, so why can't we have something for whites, so I ask, does St. Patricks day not count??? Can we agree on a holiday called Americans Day, we are after all a 'Melting Pot'

Nothing I am saying is racist. I am just using phrases that have become taboo in our culture because of racism. I am far from a racist sir. just making a point. That there is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are. But just be carefrul what color you use in front of the word "pride" It could be seen as racist. You can thank the racists for that.

Very true. If one visits another country, it becomes very clear how much Americans censor their speech, and how much people are caught up in Political Correctness in one way or another - being PC all of the time or being angry about it.
This is the result of Left-winger policies over the past several decades.
There used to be what was called "manners." That would pretty much take care of these sorts of things: Do not mock someone because of his or her personal sex life, do not disparage another human because of religion or skin color, and be truly "tolerant."
The Left destroyed the meaning of "tolerance." Tolerance actually means that one puts up with something of which one does not approve. The Left-wingers changed tolerance to mean that one celebrates and accepts what THEY determine MUST BE celebrated and accepted.

Maybe, just maybe, the Republican law makers in Arizona ought to see all the people in the state as AMERICANS and quit making divisions. We are all in this mess together and if you just have to draw differences that matter look at what the wealthy are doing to the rest of us and DO SOMETHING that benefits the rest of us.

Here's another problem. The Darwin problem. The Brits even have him on their money. But Arizona Evangelicals might have to put something in the law creating the holiday which specifically exempts any honor falling on Charles Darwin. American "exceptionalism" to the rescue.

I personnaly fail to see just what my fellow whites are so proud of. I read a lot of history and the crap "whitey" has pulled on anyone of colour is staggering. Is the holiday just to celebrate white "exceptional Americans" or white people throughout history from all around the world? How white do we have to be to get a day off with pay? Who are the Caucasians? Are they an invented nation? I'm one but I'm not so sure who our current leader is and who our heroes are? Are Hitler and Stalin on our team? How about King George III, is he going to be celebrated on this American holiday as a great white guy? I like to watch the TV show "Shark TanK" , where creative people pitch their ideas to successful business venture capitalists like Mark Cuban. How about an episode where creative inventive guys like Cecil Ash could make a pitch for funding the selling of his idea for a "Caucasian" celebration.
Of course, to be fair, Ash was joking.

Personally I would like to have fewer holidays (actually zero holidays). If a person needs a holiday to show their appreciation of something then that person really does not appreciate it. If something is meaningful then we should show our appreciation all year long.
Honoring an entire group of people is even worse. I do not like Mother's Day, Father's Day or Veteran's Day or any other day that tells us we are supposed to honor everyone in that group. There are a lot of bad mothers and fathers that do not deserve to be honored. There are certainly a large group of veterans that did not serve our country honorably, I do not feel as though I should be asked to honor them. For all of those great mothers, fathers and veterans, thank you for doing what is right but if it was right then why should it be honored as special?
For all people that live good and decent lives, I thank you for your contributions. Perhaps the only holiday we need is to honor good people no matter their status, job, color, or if they had children.

But there are many strictly American days designated throughout the year. In fact, we just had one on February 1st that most people ignore - National Freedom Day. There's Constitution Day on September 17 and, of course, Independence Day on July 4th. Martin Luther King Day is an american day, not a black-american day. There's President's Day or Washington's Birthday for purists. There's Memorial Day, Flag Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving - all strictly American days/holidays among with others.
Is there a strictly "White Day"? Why should there be - no one among us is actually white. A Caucasian Day? I'm sure there are some among us who are from the Caucasus region of Eurasia, but probably not enough to warrant a national day for them. How about a nice long Caucasian Minute
perhaps every Leap Year.
At any rate, what's it to you if people find a reason to celebrate and do? Perhaps you'd prefer they spent their days in apathy or anger and fear dreaming of ways to destroy themselves, one another and you?
If it's done peacefully, respectfully, let them celebrate whatever the hell makes them happy. You do the same. Ain't there enough reason to be angry and depressed?

This dude is ignorant, the reason why "black history month" is termed as such is because our history was lost, i can tell you what continent i came from but nothing else, there are hundreds of tribes and over 1500 languages in western part of africa alone from where slaves were taken, i cant tell you what language or languages my african ancestors spoke their customs their histories or anything, so what little history we can salvage we are celebrating and revisiting and black history month isn't just about america, i can understand why some people may feel its racist but the demons of the past cant just be ignored by those who feel uncomfortable about it now.
That being said europeans that want to know their history in general can find that information and we celebrate european history all the time, i have beer and perogies at oktoberfest, guinness on st patricks day etc etc. If some one of european descent wants to celebrate their culture they can and people will of all sorts can join in, but caucasian is not a cultural group or even a racial one, its kinda ignorant to ignore the fact that most latinos are fully caucasian and so are east indians and pakistani's and arabs.
There is nothing wrong with people being proud of themselves and celebrating and studying their history, members of my family have travelled to scotland to learn more about our families scottish roots, i have roots in spain and portugal as well that i am proud of, but a "caucasian holiday" is race based response from those who know who they are beyond the colour of their skin to those who don't and don't have a real alternative to describe it especially since the transatlantic slave trade was so vast and the results of which has created dozens of new ethnicities by which blacks identify.
I just think people whatever race they are have a duty to know where they come from but i think it is a little more important to those who have lost so much of it.

so well said, but I think we have all lost the big picture of who we are and why we are here...all of us are ignorant of our past even if we can trace a generation or two. If we keep trying to single out this or that we will continue to be lost to our whole...let's celebrate each other and our selves every day, every hour, every breath and start something new together instead of holding on to separation...it's a double edge sword, yes we are unique individuals with unique perspectives, but we are also a part of a vision that only together can be a beautiful future for all. Lots of insight there. Thanks for that.
I have one of those cultures that can look back into its past and know where they came from. Sometimes I am grateful that my German culture was able to make peace with my Dutch culture, and so forth with my Irish and Welsh. Now that I am married I have one of those families that as President Obama relates... a Christmas gathering looks like an international convention.
My observation is that whatever the color of skin and ethnic background of a family (or a community for that matter) there is at least this shared reality: The winners stand together. They are able to see beyond whatever differences they have and strengthen their human bond.

As soon as we Caucasians spend a few centuries being systematically persecuted and institutionally discriminated against, and perhaps being subject to an attempted genocide or two, then we'll have the right to our very own holiday.
