Romney: ‘No question’ Obama wanted higher gas prices

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday said that there was “no question” President Barack Obama had a plan to raise gas prices when he took office.
“When he ran for office, he said he wanted to see gas prices go up,” the candidate told Fox News host Bret Baier. “He said that energy prices would skyrocket under his views. And he selected three people to help him implement that program: the Secretary of Energy, the Secretary of the Interior, and the EPA administrator.”
The former Massachusetts governor added that Obama needed to fire the “gas-hike trio” because he had “suffered an election-year conversion.”
“Time for them to go probably hand in their resignations if he is really serious about that, and start drilling for energy here, whether that’s our oil, our natural gas, take advantage of our coal resources for power generation,” he said.
“These gasoline prices are hurting American families. And that pain and the result of the president’s policies to turn down the Keystone pipeline from Canada, and at the same time, put $500 million into Solyndra. These policies are not working. His policies are hurting the American people. And they want to have someone who will finally take advantage of our energy resources and I will.”
During a speech at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland last week, the president said that the U.S. should pursue an “all-of-the-above strategy” for developing new energy sources, including renewable energies like solar, wind and biofuels.
“Here’s the sad thing,” Obama explained to the friendly crowd. “Lately we’ve heard a lot of professional politicians — a lot of the folks who are running for a certain office, who shall go unnamed — they’ve been talking down new sources of energy. They dismiss wind power. They dismiss solar power. They make jokes about biofuels. They were against raising fuel standards. I guess they like gas guzzlers. They think that’s good for our future.”
“We’ve heard this kind of thinking before,” he added. “If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail — they must have been founding members of the Flat-Earth Society. They would not have believed that the world was round.”
At a recent event in northeastern Ohio, Romney dismissed renewable energy, declaring that “you can’t drive a car with a windmill on it.”
Obama’s campaign has accused Romney of raising taxes on gasoline by 2.5 cents per gallon while serving as governor of Massachusetts.

Obama wanted gas prices to rise. Like I want to pay $4.00 a gallon for gas. That idiot will say and do anything to get elected. He and Gingrich can both go to the moon along with Sanatorium and rule all the luna-ticks there. They could start a war with each other and pay no taxes so they can leave the rest of us alone.

A while back a report came out that iran had blew up a saudi pipe line and the price oil jumped 2 dollars a barrel before they found it to be false and a week ago a report that the President and Prime minister agreed to put stratigic reserve oil on the market caused oil to drop 2 dollars a barrel in 15 minutes before that report was proven false so it is plain to see the price of oil is solely in the hands of investers and speculaters also keep an eye on natural gas bills in congress. If they pass any of those bills promoting natural gas you will see a rapid increase in price caused by who else but investers and speculaters and for those of us who heat with gas can only hope for continued mild winters.

Facts? Facts don't matter to Republicans. They just say it and move along, knowing a certain percentage of Americans will believe it, because they said it. Facts have nothing to do with what they are saying.

I was just being facetious anyway, but I can give you an example of how a Canadian conservative thinks. In Canada right now, the Conservative Party of Canada is under investigation for election wrong doing. They were calling citizens and asking them if they could count on their votes. If they got a negative response from that citizen, they would call back at a later date and identify themselves as Election Canada, and tell the voter that the voting site had been changed due to volume. This was, of course, a lie. They were also calling voters and identifying themselves as liberals, and insulting the voters in an attempt to put them off voting liberal. When I had a discussion about it with a man I know to be a life long conservative voter, he told me that the accusations could not be true. When I asked him why he said, and I am not kidding, "If the Conservative Party was dishonest, he would not have voted for them". Circular reasoning at it's conservative best.

I once heard the question asked "If the 200 top athletes in the world, or the 200 top movie stars, or the 200 top criminals, or the top people in any field got together for a meeting, don't you think the media would be all over it? Yet the top movers and shakers from across the globe can meet annually without so much as a peep from the world wide press". Makes you wonder what they are up to.

Fuel prices are high just as I knew they would be at this time in the election cycle.
A look at historical fuel prices will display the accuracy of my view. Republicans have an election to throw-----it costs lots of capitol to throw elections---Republicans own the Oil industry--------raising fuel prices is the next to fastest means of diverting tremendous amounts of capitol-----Republican wars being the quickest route to illegal funds. Beginning to see a trend in all this??? - 1 year ago

Will everyone ask ever GOP pol, every chance they get:
Just WHY would Obama want higher gas prices when higher gas prices jeopardize the fragile recovery which helps Obama in the polls?I know the wing nuts, fundies, and bigots who just can't deal with the skin color of the President won't be concerned with the fact that the GOP pols have no answer, such people are often rather low on logic. You're right about the GOP candidates beating the war drums having an effect on gas prices. Pick one, war talk or lower gas prices. Can't have both. Speculators act on this simple fact and maybe voters will ultimately make the connection but many will again vote against their own self-interest.
