Mitt Romney’s plan to “replace” President Obama’s new immigration policy would only allow immigrants to avoid deportation if they served in the military, according to Talking Points Memo.
Romney outlined what he called a “civil but resolute” approach to undocumented immigration in a speech before the National Association of Latino Elected Officials in Orlando, where he also vowed to give spouses and young children priority in the green-card allocation process.
Last week, the Obama administration issued an order preventing the deportation of 800,000 immigrants who had been brought into the country before the age of 16. Under Obama’s plan, immigrants would be eligible if they were under 30 and had lived in the country for five years while earning a high school diploma or GED, or enlisting in the military. It would not be a path to citizenship, as proposed by the DREAM Act, but would grant them a two-year period in which to apply for a work permit.
Romney called the move “a temporary measure that he seems to think will be just enough to get him through the election.”
Video of Romney’s speech, which aired on Now with Alex Wagner on MSNBC on June 21...

What a guy. He loves war because he feels he doesn't have to participate. He was a proponent of the Vietnam war, but then ran off to do "missionary work" in France.

I understand why you would say that KB....afterall, BO is certainly not hurting in the area of personal wealth, however, BO is a man who began his career as a community organizer, someone who works to help the disadvantaged out of poverty and its attendant miseries. Romney's career highlights were at Bain capital, where he worked tirelessly to introduce people to unemployment, poverty and its attendant miseries. Add to this the central dogma of Mormonism, which is the belief that only Mormons are meant to prosper, and you have a world view that sees other human beings as cannon fodder and chaff.

He said his own sons were serving the nation by helping him get elected. Such hubris!
And there was just an article the other day about how all but one of Mitt's sons didn't want him to run at all. They didn't like the idea of what it would do to the family. Huh? Or didn't like the spotlights on the family? Makes me wonder just what sort of business dealings 4 out or 5 sons are engaged in that attention would create problems for them.

Yes. And Bill Clinton's little darling was a hedge fund manager, at least a couple of years ago, and we know good ole boy Bill did not vetoe the ending of Glass Stegle and supported the Commodities Futures trading act. Our Bill set the trajectory for this horrible thing that is happening to happen. Its much more serious than most people realize. We need a third party or to be able to vote out the corporate Dems. Citizens United was part of their plan for the future they are trying to create. We will be the serfs and they the lords.

This policy is in fact a back door draft and the clear intention is to provide cannon fodder for America's wars! you can bet none of Romney's sons ever served in any branch of the service as rich kids never do! While Obama is no prize Romney is worse in my view and was a lousy Governor here in Massachusetts in my view! Can't stand Obama either and will write in myself or somebody else before I vote for either one of these losers and slaves of the rich elite!

I admire the jobs our troops do. And understand that military service is probably the greatest way to show your support for your country, IF THAT IS YOUR CHOICE!! How dare anyone be it Romney or Obama force people to go into the military, fighting for no plausible cause, and being put in harm's way. Especially when you yourself haven't served, and let's not dare ask the rich to send their kids. This should not be part of the plan. How many people we have in the armed forces today that take the oath for the wrong reasons end up dead, hurt, resentful??? If immigrants want to serve our country than we can use that service as a path to legal citizenship, but I do not believe this should be an absolute part of a plan.

BULLSHIT! It is an assault upon America and American citizens to join in military actions abroad for corporate benefit at the People's expense! In addition, the more military actions citizens engage in the more enemies of America those actions create, which only feeds the monstrous corporate/military industrial complex, which the People of American pay for but never benefit from.

Human targets for Willard`s war with Iran and intervention in Syria (if he gets in),of course the latino immigrants can always pick 'Massa`s" cotton, tomatoes, and cut his lawn, while Willard sips juleps on the veranda with momma and the boys. Wonder how many Romney boys have served, hmmm?
