The 2.6 per cent rise projected for 2012 means global emissions from burning fossil fuel are 58 per cent above 1990 levels, the baseline year for the Kyoto Protocol.
This latest analysis by the Global Carbon Project is published in the journal Nature Climate Change with full data released simultaneously by the journal Earth System Science Data Discussions.
It shows the biggest contributors to global emissions in 2011 were China (28 per cent), the United States (16 per cent), the European Union (11 per cent), and India (7 per cent).
Emissions in China and India grew by 9.9 and 7.5 per cent in 2011, while those of the United States and the European Union decreased by 1.8 and 2.8 per cent.
Emissions per person in China of 6.6 tonnes of CO2 were nearly as high as those of the European Union (7.3), but still below the 17.2 tonnes of carbon used in the United States. Emissions in India were lower at 1.8 tonnes of carbon per person.
Prof Corinne Le Quere, director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and professor at UEA, led the publication of the data. She said: "These latest figures come amidst climate talks in Doha. But with emissions continuing to grow, it's as if no-one is listening to the entire scientific community."

Oklahoma in the summer gets up to the 110's.
"In Oklahoma City, high temperatures on Wednesday were forecast to “flirt with” the city’s all-time high temperature record of 113°F, according to the National Weather Service (NWS)"

I do not trust the developed governments on this... 17% by 2035 is actually the deal I read and it is way too little way too late. If I didn't know any better I would think they are doing this deliberately to allow their rich minions like Bill Gates make a kiiling in geoengineering. I am sure they are talking about that as well behind closed doors at Doha while the poor and indigenous who are disproportionately suffering form the effects of this once again sit outside being watched by riot police. I also read that China is looking into fracking to "greenwash" their CO2 emissions. Perhaps this is what Obama is trying to sell them on, don't know for sure. One thing I do know is that we will not see an attack of conscience any time soon by those profiting big from this crisis which is why we need to take the solutions out of their hands and into our own. I am no longer looking to any of them for any real leadership on this least of all this Congress and Obama who sold us out a long time ago... and they should be held accountable for that.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/nov/27/china-planning-huge-fracking-i...
"China is ratcheting up its fracking ambitions with virtually no regard for groundwater protection or other environmental safety measures, according to a new investigation by the independent publication Caixin. The report points to an 24 October white paper on energy development released by China's top cabinet which "calls for ramping up the industry and pumping 6.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from underground shale formations by 2015.""The model for China's anticipated success is the US shale gas sector," the article states. "Geologists estimate the nation's recoverable reserves at about 25 trillion cubic meters, on par with the United States."
___Just what their already toxified water supply (what little they have left) needs.

I so agree with you and I think we all have to get into the solution by personally lowering our effect and educating others on affordable ways to get ready for the storm. A sad face. I have the Bill Gates video here somewhere for those who want to hear his thoughts.

I had to post this. In my view if we do not get are shit together the new breaking news will be that a city and its whole population were removed from the earth by a surprisingly large storm. - 6 months ago

Doha? What a f^&^^%^^^^ farce! Ignorance is no longer an excuse. Has this species just gone off the deep end collectively? After a while you just can't comprehend it any longer. And you know, after Hurricane Sandy I could have thrown up my hands and said I'm done.... but then, where would that leave my son, the people I love and the home I love? Can't do that, because these culpable parties need to see their day of justice. It's the only way now. Mordor has to be brought down.

Mordor does indeed have to come down, but sadly there is no "one ring" to toss in the cracks of doom. The orcs will have to be dealt with one by one. It is sad that people who don't have clue about a clue (Congressman Paul Broun on our congressional science committee for one) can just ignore the mounting scientific evidence.

With Sandy and it's aftermath you have those forces combined, i.e. the huge cost of Sandy's devastation, and the mounting evidence (truth) of this being an event greatly worsened by AGW. Let's hope Barry O and his crew have the stones to see the that the Petro-fracking emperor is stark raving naked.

But , there IS a ring , my friend . There IS and Tolkein knew it well (after witnessing WW1 and 2 and the profit cycle from them) . It is the cycle of profit from death of nature . The Money system itself . Does the EARTH charge us to breathe or to clean the air and water ? No , it is well within our power to KEEP it clean and free . Does the Earth charge the animals for food and water to drink , no , we can stock it up like the animals do , it is simply UP TO US to keep it healthsome and distribute it properly . The cycle of debt and profit is the ring . The Resource based economy is the mountain of its doom .
