The situation in North Korea is very interesting and I enjoyed this pod. Everyday life in North Korea seems horrible. They are truly under an isolated and facist regime.

Blown away. I find myself wondering how much might be on your "editing floor?" When you interviewed the woman who suggested that North Korea''s goal was reunification with the South, did you ask her, what if the South doesn''t want it, and what if the South doesn''t care for the "Dear Leader?"
All in all, good freaking job. Amazing.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE! I was just at the DMZ a month or so ago--but on the other side. I''ve never seen footage from the DPRK side of the DMZ. I''m kind of amazed at some of the non-guided footage you got...the precious few minutes of it. Did the authorities ever give you guys any hassle? Someone had to have seen you filming in the subway stations??

It amazes me how completely closed off from the rest of the world North Koreans are when they share a peninsula with one of the most advanced and globally connected nations. Maybe their situation will be getting better with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra going there, but I don't know...after watching the pod it seems like the 'DPRK' still has a long way to go.

hey janet...that was actually the major ethical dilemma i faced in going to NK, that maybe my money would be a tiny donation to Kim Jong Il's nuclear program. i preferred to think that it was going towards his next Pyongwood production.

I guess it was pretty amazing when China finally opened itself to western tourists in the 70's/80's; but it'll be nothing compared to what we'll see if North Korea does the same in our lifetime.
