The Great American Detour got some more coverage in Caledonia, MS. From the Commercial Dispatch:"On Saturday, Pat and Glen Freeman told the story of their fallen son, Army Staff Sgt. Brian Freeman, to a new audience: Los Angeles-based journalists Taylor Manson and Lauren Cerre.
The journalists, both 25 years old, were in town for just a few hours, to interview the Freemans for a special feature on Current TV called “Great American Detour.”
Brian Freeman was on foot patrol just south of Baghdad when he was killed by a car bomb Nov. 7, 2005. He was 27."
Nearly half of all servicemen and women killed in Iraq come from communities with fewer that 25,000 people and 1 out in 5 troops killed come from hometowns of less than 5,000 people. Caledonia, Mississippi, population of 1,015 (2000 census) is one of these towns. With two deaths in the past five years, Caledonia is one of hundreds of small towns across America were every death is noticed.
