In "America's Secret War", Vanguard correspondent Mariana van Zeller travels
to the Iraq-Iran border to investigate claims that the United States is
supporting militant groups that are attacking Iran. In the rugged Qandil mountains,
she meets with up with anti-Iranian guerillas who have been launching deadly
raids against the Islamic Republic. A good percentage of the fighters are women,
and Mariana accompanies a small group of them through what many believe has
become the frontline of the US's secret war with Iran.

    • certainly has that "Charlie Wilson's War" ring to it, doesn't it?

And the thing is, whether George Bush is in office or not, the election will not be enough to stop those who would wage war around the world. Bush is merely another pawn on a giant chessboard, and the people behind these clandestine wars are driven by greed, fear, and the equally covert manipulation of the ideals they hold near and dear.

    • I don't know about the guerilla girls, but Mariana van Zeller has to be one of the most intriguing women in the world. These vanguard journalists are top notch. I'm sure the travel is great - at least some of the time - however the Iranian border with a guerilla group that kills Iranians might be a little disconcerting. Not to mention the local culture and lack of hospitality. Kudos to current and all the vanguard team.

    • My greatest fear is, George W. will get us into all out war with Iran before he leaves office. If America is in another war, it will make it harder to address the failings of his Presidency.

George W. has done many bad things while President. Many things were against the law and he "decided" to ignore the laws and proceed anyway. After he leaves office, his failings will be investigated at great length and he knows it. I think he will do everything he can before leaving office to make that task more difficult.

If we are at war with Iran and "Russia", looking backwards wont matter, it will be too late. Congress must step up and reign him in before it is too late! Russia has stated that war with Iran would be an attack on them. They will come to the aid of Iran. Sarah Palin may take that statement lightly, but I do not.
