    • I believe it's up to the local governments to make these investments profit all their citizens. Good governance on a national and pan-African level will determine if these investments will mostly profit China alone or if there will be positive external effects regarding the infrastructure of African countries and subsequently a boost for their local economies.

    • Of course they are not doing it in the 'name of good will.' It is being done in the name of profit and this day and age it is all that matters sadly enough.

    • I hope that this is a happy marriage, but I cannot help but to smell colonialism. If China has no regard for human rights in their own country, why should I think that they will eventually treat Africans any difference. I know for a fact that they are not doing all of this in the name of Goodwill.

    • I say Africa needs all the help it can get, perhaps the motives of the Chinese can be questioned but is that much different than what America does? At least the Chinese have not been using soldiers and tanks to obtain their needs...
