Somalia in the summer of 2006 during a brief period of fragile stability.
Shortly after they left, the US backed Ethiopian forces to invade Somalia
and drive out the ruling Islamic Court Union. The country has since plunged
back into war, sparking a surge of people to flee their homes. Forced by
violence and poverty, tens of thousands of Somalis risk their lives fleeing
Somalia by crossing the Gulf of Aden to reach Yemen. However, many never
survive the perilous journey.

Hi Kaj,
My name is Drew and we met recenlty at the NAB show in Vegas. I asked you the question about putting the camera down and picking up a gun. I just finished watching the "Beach of Death" segment and understand what you were talking about. Truly horrifying situation with no easy solutions but certainly nothing can be done if people don't know about it. Thanks for the post and doing what you guys do.

Thank-you. Seeing the reality of poverty and suffering is quite humbling. These are human beings! Somehow, giving money, clothes and other necessities aren't enough. Being there is the way to help, but how many of us can do that?
I feel so sad. - 3 years ago

Hello Kaj and Christof...
It's Carolina from Ahwar... We have just watched your documentary with Mat and think it was very good. Unfortunately, we will not be able to show it to the rest of the team in Ahwar, as you may well know due to the speed of the internet connection. Inshallah, we'll get a copy in order to share it with the team.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers from everyone in Ahwar...Carolina
