    • This was shocking and disgusting. The bank now owns the house, so the local government goes out and does the dirty work? Haven't the banks done enough damage that the local governments are left cleaning up?

What could the constable's office possibly be telling themselves that makes it acceptable (but "regrettable", I'm sure) to boot people who were paying their lease regularly when the owner defaulted months ago? And to give them no notice, and demand they leave in 20 minutes? Looks like a human rights violation to me.

Thanks Laura and the Vanguard team, as ever, for surfacing stories that rarely get told so clearly.
